Well so i called up my computer guy to get the rates of the 8800gt, and he tells me there are like a number of versions of this, alphadog, gt, gts etc etc. so which one should i go for and what should be the cost?

Go for 8800GT.
Alpha Dog is good, but is expensive.

dont go with that zalaman heat sink. The memory module are not having any heat sink.

I guess he is talking about gfx card heat sinks. The zalman looks like have heat sinks just for the gfx processor. There are about 8 memory chips on the card. Usually they provide tiny heat sinks for them also. Zalman dosnt seems to have them as per lbm's post.

Yes bro one of the XFX alpha dog edition card does not have cooler for memory modules but only for the gfx processor only.

OK, so the memory cooling is what you are talking about.
But I dont think this issue with 8800GT from Palit or some other reputed manufacturer. I always stay away from XFX brand.

xfx = rashi , so you'll run into the same issues as you'd have with ASUS.
your config seems fine thats why i havent commented so far, but why an 8800GT now ? get a 9800GTX. 8800GT's might be older stock

Sirji, GDDR3 ko heatsink nahi bhi rahega to bhi chalta hai.It doesnt heat up a lot

I think it depends upon model and manufacturers.
MSI 8800gt versions are available at around 8.5-9.2K.
Where as 9800gtx is around 13K.
