I agree with fulled here....if you dont plan to overclock then intel board is a good choice.....but one thing more...AMD has slashed there prices very much...and there performance and price ratio is very good when compared to intel...it means that the amd will give you good performance in good price....but intel C2D will cost more but the performance will not be much.....so check out the AMD prices also......

good to hear that you are a intel fan.....but one thing more.....with intel you are getting the CPU + MB combo for 20.5k......and amd with a 5-10 % above performance that would be costing you approx 17-18k......with AMD X2 5200+

Hey guys i had recently bough a Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.13 GHZ and an ASuS PVB-VM MOBO. My problem is that in idling the processor temperature registers 43 - 44 degrees centigrade and under load goes up to 56 to 58 degrees max. I had bought the core 2 duo because it had lower heat generation as well as power consumption as compared to a intel prescott . I did a quick google for the same and fond that many people were quoting a temperature of 35 degrees centigrade max on their core 2 duo!!

Tried writing to Intel but they kept saying that the processor tempertaure is within the prescribed limits ! What tempertaures are other core 2 duo users here reporting ?

ur friend can go for Nvidia 7600GS 5.5k or 7300GT 4.2k or maybe a 8500GT(i'm not sure of the price around 6K)

for u a 7600GT 7-8k or 8600GT 9-9.5K will do nicely.

i suggest the 8500GT for ur friend and for u 8600GT as both are DX10 cards so future games can work.

7300GT is ok for somebody who wants a cheap graphic card. It cannot be used for serious gaming but will play ok in lower resolutions and settings.

The 8600GT for 8k or less sounds like a fantastic buy.

7300 GT is just a display card which is way better than a normal On-board graphic solution but it does not have any power to play any latest game which are released now days the max the 7300 gt can play is in 800x600 resolution with all the qualtiy setting set to minimum, the least one I would suggest is the 7600gt taking today scenario and for a little more on budget 8600gt, and who can spend 8800gts 320mb.
