What a great-looking shop! Did they build it for you or did you DIY?

It truly felt like being in a candy shop. They assembled the PC themselves in about an hour. It was interesting to watch them build it.

Did you also get windows license too? I might have a need at some point and need a reference for a windows license and how much it costs.

Hi, yes, I got Windows 11 Pro. The seller on SP Road, Bangalore, gave it as a complimentary add-on. He had a bunch of orange-colored keys with him. I think it might cost around ₹1,000.

Re: The Desktop Computer & Configuration Thread

Just finished an all Amazon PC Build. There were zero offers on anything, but the itch was too great to ignore. It's been more than 12 Years since i built a PC. Let me know if people are interested, will post more details and pictures.

The total, excluding monitor and peripherals came upto 1.13 Lakh. The system runs like a charm, running all my present games at above 144fps. I will wait for the Amazon sale to get a high refresh rate monitor, gaming keyboard mouse combo and another 2Tb NVME drive. Setting the Ram to 6000Mhz was 1 click and needed no other settings to be tinkered with. I feel i got the 4060Ti at a steal, considering Indian prices.

There are better shops where you could have gotten much better prices on individual items

Conventional wisdom dictates that, but most of these shops do not have the motherboard of choice, rather the barebones B650's, same with the case and Ram. Trust me, i used to build and sell custom PC's as a hobby back in the day, working with as many as 5 different whole sellers for parts. When i am spending more than a Lakh, the saving won't (if any) be more than a couple of grand, and i will have to compromise on the features. MDComputers website is what i used for comparing prices and Amazon was cheaper everywhere. The configuration can be had for around 1.05~1.07L on Amazon if i choose the lesser variants of the same components. The choice and the option of returns if any issue arrises, is what drew me to Amazon.

I initially planned to get AMD 5600X but somehow the shop keeper convinced me to get the 8600G as it is newer and comes in the same price range. It has inbuilt GPU which might not be of much use as I was going with RX6600 Graphic card.

Can you share the shop details? Would like to visit to check for a NAS build.

I got it done from Ashirwad Computers on SP road Bangalore. There are a bunch of famous shops there and the prices are generally less than online.

https://themvp.in/ You can try this as well as your location reads Hyderabad.

47k gets you the 9800X3D - better chip for gaming. The AM5 processors don't need liquid cooling - air cooling will work just fine. If it's for the aesthetics, please ignore my last sentence .

Yes but not by much at 1440/4k. Also, it's considerably worse in everything else.

Please do NOT suggest such cheap quality power supplies as a bad PSU can literally damage the whole setup. Ant Esports makes terrible power supplies. Only go for brands like Corsair, CoolerMaster, Thermaltake, NZXT, MSI, Asus, etc. For budget power supplies, most Deepcool units are fine.

Pardon me to contradict couple of things here.

I wont disagree to this general notion of "cheap" PSU damaging all your stuff but practically speaking, long gone those early days of home computing. Cheaper PSU without any rating would be less efficient and at worst wont be able to satisfy power demand required at full load. If the system reboots or freezes during high load, don't ignore, change the PSU. That would be the worst, what may happen.

Secondly for this brand (Antz Sports), I am using it with multiple setups of mine, including in my home gaming PC. NO issues at all.

Infact, one of my home server running 24x7x365 is using a really cheap (Rs. 350/- when bought) "ColorSit" (made in China, dumped in India) PSU for more than half a decade now. Zero issue and running absolutely fine since day one.

Thanks.

Let me add a bit to this.

There is a lot of FUD on the internet about so called "cheap" power supplies, like this one: https://www.zachstechturf.com/psutierlist. According to such lists, just the company itself is not enough, there are tiers like S, A, B, ..., F etc.

The most important thing about PSU is to run it at the right load percentage. Usually 50-70% is the sweet spot. Also, the rails specs should match the components. Like don't buy a 450W PSU for a i7 12700k, even if it is not used with a GPU. This is also why a GPU rated at 300W TDP recommends 700W PSU because the rail spikes can be higher.

The other (external) protection is to run from a 10A socket instead of 20A. A PC does not need the latter. Then attach a UPS, not the PC rated ones but actual high capacity ones (most in BLR might already be using so due to frequent power cuts) - the UPS is the first one to fail in case of a power surge.

Now, most brands listed above just outsource PSUs from other companies, like NZXT from Seasonic which are OEMs. So NZXT C series can be in tier A with more expensive contracted components, but Seasonic's own non-modular PSU can end up in tier B or C. Deepcool and Ant Esports can both source from same OEM. Thermaltake/ Silverstone/ MSI/ Gigabyte/ XPG are not OEM vendors either. Also, Corsair RM is tier A, but CXM is C. Cooler Master GX is D or E, but V series is S.

I myself have bought PSU after consulting the list, because who wants to take risk with other components. But at the same time, I have a 11 year old tier D Cooler Master GX, 7 year old Corsair CXM, 5 year old Antec (all bronze) running just fine. All these models are frowned upon by the community and it is a sin to use them.

So look for a PSU with 3+ year warranty, check with the shop as they know the failure rate of a brand, run it at the right max load, and you'll be fine.
