You have three options

My Bad. I meant Dragon Age 2. And the 460 handles it like a charm @ settings of 1920*1080, 4xAA and high textures. I'm using the 270.61 driver family.

Really wanted to get a 24 incher, but budget and space constraints pegged me back.

That was my initial plan as well. That is until the guy at SMC told me that the difference between 2400 and 2500 is currently 750 bucks! I'm not complaining of course!

On the 2500k though, I'd have had to go for a P67 motherboard to use it to full potential. Lack of funds right now means that an upgrade is coming in a year's time!

Is HD essential? If not, and if your TV has a VGA port, you can connect to it straightaway. In fact if your TV has a DVI/ HDMI port it will most probably have a VGA port as well. I've used upto 26" screens from my Samsung NC10. No stutter in 720p videos. 1080p playback is difficult!

Suggest me a nice spec list for a mid-range gaming PC. Games I play are CS, COD, FIFA, CRICKET and NFS. I don't play all the games which require some heavy duty machine like crysis and bio-shock. Infact I still play FIFA 2008, COD 2, CS 1.6 and Cricket 2007. So let me know what should I get. MaxX Budget is 25K, But if you can save me some money, I'll buy more games.

(I have LG 22x DVD writer & Microsoft KB+Mouse combo from my old Sempron-based Machine.)

amd athlon II x3 440 (My favorite) - 3.3k

Asus M4N68T M motherboard - 2.2k

4 Gb ram DDR3 GSkill Ripjaw 2x2gb - 3k max (double check this) but don't compromise on ram quality.

Cabinet, any one will do. Coolermaster elite 310 for 1.8k

Power supply - cooler master extreme power plus 350w - 1.5k

Monitor - dont go below 19 inches - samsung b1930N is 6k.

Graphics card - AMD sapphire 5670 1gb ddr3 - 4.2k


You have the rest. So your total comes to - 22k

PS: this rig will more than play any of those games you mentioned and play new ones as well with decent frame rates

What's wrong with your Sempron setup? What gen Sempron is it? For old games a cheap older mid-range card should do. You can also pump up the RAM.

I think it's Sempron 2200. It lags. I have 512 DDR1 RAM. And it has some nvidia 256mb card. The system heats up when I play FIFA. Can't play COD multiplayer. CS 1.6 runs like a charm. But it's been many years now. I'll pass it on to my younger cousin or my nephew. Hence looking for a new PC.

Thanks ByDesign. Actually someone suggested the exact same configuration. Just that the monitor was dell 2020 and instead of Gskill RAM he suggested Crossair. BTW. Any suggestions for a UPS? Us bangaloreans are frequent victims of power-cuts.

Microtek is a fine company for a UPS. In fact, right this very moment the power has gone, and I'm on my microtek UPS! I paid around 3500 for this. It's a slightly bigger capacity UPS since I have a 750W PSU in my computer and a 24 inch LCD.

I concur. My APC 500VA stopped working after about three years of use, and the new 1500VA unit I have has been replaced 6 times within warranty.

My little Microtek 500VA is in its 8th year and gives me one minute of backup (enough for the generator to turn on) but it's enough.

I would suggest u spend a little more and get a better quality psu. A corsair 400w will do for that configuration
