I was using AVG antivirus(freeware) for nearly 5 years and found it quite good.
Got infected with a virus few months back and AVG just could not heal the virus but instead moved all the infeceted .exe files to Vault and made all the softwares unusable.
Recently changed to Avast(freeware) and i find it much much better than AVG.
In addition to this i am using Anti-malware bytes(freeware) which is a very efficient tool to clear the spywares, adwares and trojans.

I use Comodo Internet Security Suite [freeware]- and I have been using it for past 3 or more years... and I have never really had a mojor virus, trojan, malware or adware problem. I use Spybot [freeware] for my Explorer Browser and Comodo System Cleaner [freeware] for general system diagnosis.

IMHO there is no single AV software which will guarantee 100% protection. However if you carefully choose and use different cleaning and protection software the safety of your PC and Servers will be vastly enhanced.

I am great supporter of 'Open Source' and 'Freeware'.

i am using nod 32 with comodo firewall.
never had any problem from 3 years of use.

(imp: if you want to use comodo with nod after installation of comodo please add nod in trusted app's list. otherwise be ready to re-installation of OS)
(it took me three xp installations to realize this problem)

Re: Which Anti-virus software do you use ?

Do anyone using Mc Affee firewall (HIPS) facing this peculiar issue?

I've problems in submitting posts to T-BHP and few other vbulletin based sites. IF my firewall is running, it will give an error message.
"The following error occured". But nothing will be there as error details. There will be one "Okay" link.

So,unless I temporarily disable firewall,I can't make a post.

It won't affect on any other browsing related activities.

Re: Which Anti-virus software do you use ?

I have been using Eset Nod32 since the Windows XP launch. Never have I come across any virus/trojans after. And it's the 'lightest' AV for any OS.

Re: Which Anti-virus software do you use ?

Avira Personal Edition - Free Antivirus, for hte last 3 years or so. Before that I had AVG free edition, which I was otherwise satisfied with but one releas (I think it was ver. 6) was extra-heavy on resources and slowed my PC to a crawl. That issue has long been fixed (I believe) but I'm happy sticking with Avira, never had any problems with it.

Re: Which Anti-virus software do you use ?

I use Norton Internet security 2010 ( 3 license). It does make the system slower (so does McAfee, I use a Dell Inspiron 6400 with Vista). AVG is not great and does not filter many virus'. I also have a Spyware Doctor installed in my laptop (which is mostly deactivated). Activate it once a month and do a full scan and then deactivate since I dont want 2 s/w running at the same time. That helps !

Re: Which Anti-virus software do you use ?

Hands down on Nod32 one of THE best, extremely light, super "virii detection" and a lot more customizeable that the bigger names out there.

I Just Installed it on my Computer.
How would you rate it against, the usual Norton\Mcafee.
Is anyone else here using MS security essentials?
Please put in your views.

Re: Which Anti-virus software do you use ?

Been using Microsoft Security Essentials for 2-3 months now. It's as good as any AV (McAfee, CA, Symantec) I have used in the last 10 years and it's absolutely free. And it doesn't seem to hog the machine resources as much as McAfee does.

I have been using it since it came. I also run avast in parallel, as its the lightest AV out there. I normally run 2AV at the same time. Running AVG + MS or other free AV + MS turned out to be resource heavy on my old laptop.
So I started using AVAST + MS as AVAST is very light weight.
Now I have a much more powerful machine, but I am now used to this combo.
Once a month I do a full system scan with Malwarebytes anti malware. Its a manual scan, and Malwarebytes does not run in background.
