Great News but i got the same for 22K more than a year and half back when i got it from US.

What would be a more welcome news is the price slash of PS3 games. It should be in Rs.750 to Rs.1000 range. Current prices are way too high

Seen some pictures of the slim and it looks ok. Only thing that concerns me is the lag in some of the games. I have seen this in several EA games, one minute everything looks great visually and next minute you have horrible looking laggy graphics.

IMHO I like the standing look of the old one with piano gloss finish and the name spelt out in full. That just made it look more mysterious and sexy.
The new one with PS3 embossed on the top looks like a PS2.

Halo ODST can be pre-ordered from GameGears, the last date is tomorrow (18th Sep). There's a Rs.200 discount & shipping is free in India ! Was told that the game would be shipped on launch day (22nd Sep), next Tuesday, with copies being delivered home the same day. Sgt.Johnson multi-player character & Halo-Reach beta invite are included - Whoopee !

P.S. - Was informed that pre-orders for Forza-Motorsport-3 & Modern-Warfare-2 should be available from 25th Sep

any reviews of the new one with the old one vis-a-vis noise, and heat and performance? I am surprised that in Amazon both old and new versions are pegged at 299$.

Exactly. The slim actually looks like an older model. But they prob avoided the rich glossy finish since most users would like to carry their lighter slims around with them (makes for a safer, scratch free console).

High time we had an Xbox-PS3 meet. With Forza 3 and GT5 coming this year, it'l be a real blast.

MGS4 and GT5 (and Ratchet & Clank and Little Big Planet for my son) have spoiled me so much that GTA4 looks positively crappy on my PS3. The for Sony titles are just brilliant. Everything else looks lousy in comparison. Hate the game mechanics of GTA4 too - perhaps I'm too new to it.
