folks I'd like some help on deciding whether to go for DishTV or tatasky. After going through this thread i have been led to beleive dish tv after sales is poor.

I'd like to know which has better clarity since i will also be purchasing a 40" LCD later.

I have seen the clarity of Tatasky on a LCD and found it be nowhere close to "DVD quality picture" as claimed by them.

Theres an offer till tomorrow for tatasky in which the total cost is Rs.3500 for settop+installation+3months subscription.

vid6639,go in for Tata Sky..their customer care as well as the DTH broadcast quality is far better than DishTv.
The satellite signal strength and quality of Tata Sky is also much better than the same of Dish TV..so,Dish TV has more interruptions even during moderate-heavy rains..
Tata Sky doesn't have as many channels that Dish TV currently offers, but they are adding up channels pretty fast..(initially when they launched their service,it was something likie 55 channels..but today, they offer around 110 channels or so..)..and the numbers are gonna keep on adding up..
Also - the Rs3500 offer is good for Tata Sky..Dish TV charge around Rs3700 for installation/STB/Cable/Dish/LNB and 3 months Dish Maxi Subscription..
Enjoy your DTH experience dude !..btw..I have Dish TV since past 4 months..when I bought the subscription,Tata Sky hadn't launched yet..so,I have Dish TV..and now,I don't want to change currently because of the cost involved again for installation,STB,etc.etc..(Aroound Rs4,000).
Cheers,
-sr

there may be good news for you srasania. very soon there will be inter-operability among the DTH providers & we can change to whichever service is better.:)

There are no interruptions during rain on dish tv.earlier it was a problem but it has been solved now after software upgrade.i get as high as 88% signal.it depends on how they installed your dish.

also the quality of dishtv has improved to a great extent and matches that of Tata sky on the other hand as channels are getting added to tatasky their quality is falling.it is bound to go down futher as channels increase.

but in interactive services tatasky is much better.

Thanks a lot guys just bought the tatasky package. waiting for the installation now.:)

my STB is yet to updated * i have severe rain outages. last night, i could not watch the cricket match fully because of the rains. i think you must be having zenega stb. i have kaon. i have to wait till the champions trophy is over to get my software update. thats what they say.
BTW, my signal strength is only between 70-75.

I am a Tata-Sky user for 3 weeks now. Very happy with the quality of transmission and even service I should say.

yeah, i was too, for the 1st 3 months. lol :)

BTW, the dishtv decoders (Zenega & Kaon) are far superior to the Tatasky ones, which are made locally. :) one reason to cheer about. my subscription with dish ends in Jan 07. i will migrate to tatasky with the present STB & get better pictures, i hope. :)

Could you elaborate how they are superior. Are you saying that just because they are made in taiwan whereas the tatasky is made locally.
Any other info regarding the same.

put up tata sky in my house a few day's back..am very very impressed by the service and clarity..

:Cheering:Yippeeeee!!! Installation done today of tatasky today.

Initial impressions are that its clear and has quite a few features. the ACTVE sports is better than that of dishtv.

Also the tatasky decoders and the receivers are not made locally. they are made by tele systems Malaysia.

Insane Devil,

I am thinking of going with Hathway Digital STB and I live in Ameerpet area. Can you please confirm the availability of SUN MUSIC with Hathway digital cable? When I call Hathway they say SUN TV is available and when I ask for SUN MUSIC they were not sure. BTW, How is the quality?

lb

Correct if I am wrong, but by decoder you mean STB (Set Top Box).

The STBs being supplied by Tata Sky are of Thomson & Humax makes. Both are being manufactured in India.

Anyway, I have been a Tata Sky user for a month now. Not a single problem faced till date. The picture and voice quality is awesome.
