re: Sygic India GPS Navigation

The issue with MMI was that they were very slow in providing updates to Sygic.
Sygic moved to TomTom (probably worldwide) and now have the same for India.

I have Sygic on few of my devices, but have not used the app for more than a month, so I am unable to add any more value.
But those with valid license, please post your queries to Sygic support. They are very good in providing quick answers.

Did anyone here who had previously bought Sygic MMI get the new Sygic TomTom version for free?

I had purchased Sygic + Mapmyindia Gps, last year from Google play store for 199rs, and so I got Sygic + Tomtom premium, via restore purchases option in the new Sygic app.

Meanwhile I downloaded and tried the Navimaps app, and I got a mail from Mapmyindia saying that Navimaps premium is free for old users. So I mailed them and got the premium upgrade as well.

What I Use?

Google maps. Easy on eyes and pretty accurate within Chennai city, with live traffic. Sygic UI is like a few years old, and Navimaps is modern, but unintuitive.

Yes, I got the TomTom version free. That's when I got confused when people said I had to buy it. Your old license is still valid for the new TomTom maps.

If you had bought the earlier Sygic Mapmyindia, you can get both sygic+tomtom, and the navimaps premium for free. Please check my previous post.

re: Sygic India GPS Navigation

Thank you for the information, Raghav_K and bsdbsd. I installed Sygic TomTom using my own account and it looks like the MMI license trasferred automatically and everything seems to be working.

I've mailed Navimaps inquiring on how to get the voice nav on that as well. Awaiting their reply.

BTW I noticed that Sygic TT, doesn't make use of the phone's magnetic compass to align the map like it does in most other map apps.

MMI activated the Pro Guidance on my phone for free

Routing on Navimaps look good. Haven't tested the voice nav yet. Voice instructions seems to be available in quite a few regional languages.

Hello there,

I bought Sygic through Google Play some nine months back.

The darned thing has stopped working beyond the 'Please tap Proceed to download maps' screen.

I have tried all permutations and combinations. To no avail.

What is the remedy? How does one prove his ownership for software purchased through Google Play?

Help please.

Hi Skdking,
I guess you are using the previous 13.5 Version.

Did you select any of the states to download the maps?
Suppose you have to download Tamil Nadu Maps, you have to select IND - Tamil Nadu (6th option from below as per my Phone). Then the selected option gets highlighted (Green Colour) and the Proceed soft key gets activated. Tap on Proceed to download the Tamil Nadu Map.

Or am I missing something?

The maps of India are not available in Sygic GPS Navigation application currently as the format of the map we have is not equal to the rest of the maps in this application.

At the moment I can provide you with the APK installation file that will install Sygic India application on your device. It will allow you to use the latest available maps of India with the old format:

http://storage.sygic.com/support/apk...315_r52325.apk

Please copy the file into your device memory and using any file manager on your Android device please run the file to install the app.

We are currently working on including the new format of the maps of India that will be updated to the current version as the rest of the maps in Sygic GPS Navigation application. However, the date of this step is currently unknown as we do not have the maps yet.

Hi Guys,

I installed the apk mentioned in the above link. After installation i ran sygic and it said "No maps loaded" and took me to download page of all states. I downloaded few of them and it downloaded successfully.
There are two buttons Quit and Proceed at the bottom of the screen. But when i click Proceed it comes back to the Download page again. Not going any further!
If i quit and restart the app, it says "No maps loaded" and goes to "Download maps" page.

Any solution to this issue?

Thanks,
Ramki

I am also facing same problem. Tried it on two devices I have.

Also, I purchased "Sygic & MapmyIndia: GPS" in September, 2012 for GBP 15.79 (INR 1468.59) even then I am not able to use it.

Also, Navimaps people (navimaps@mapmyindia.co.in) do not reply my mail to restore my purchase but they keep on sending mails to upgrade to the premium version with additional payment.

I had a similar issue using Sygic on my phone but after I uninstalled the map, deleted the Sygic_MMI folder from the phone and reinstalled the app, it worked fine for me
