Re: Review: Sony Xperia Tipo

My Tipo's
3.5mm audio jack isn't working since
today evening. it just doesn't recognize
anything that is plugged in and plays
music through the phone's loudspeaker.
tried it with Sony earphones, Sony
headphones, Samsung earphones and my
car's aux cable, all of which work
properly with my ipod.
Is there any quick fix? im afraid the
service centre guys might keep the phone
for long for the warranty claim.

And now my phone's loudspeaker is also not working properly.
The volume stays at minimum even though the volume bar shows maximum.
Even if the volume is set to the lowest setting the music still plays at the same level.

I think I'll have to go to the a.s.s tomorrow.

Re: Review: Sony Xperia Tipo

Sad to hear something like this hapenning in a new phone.
No need to mention that try restarting and all, you might have already done that. Did you try re-installing the software(OS) once more? Might just work out.

The a.s.s. might take some days for its repair. My nokia E5 took 5 days for replacement of the earphone socket. Don't know about sony!

All the best.

Re: Review: Sony Xperia Tipo

Restoring factory settings hardly takes a minute or so. You just have to enter the password, wait for a minute, and you are done.
This comes from my experience of using Nokia all these years.
You can try re-installing/updating the os software at home itself, hardly takes a hour or so depending on the speed of your internet connection. This might save you the hassle of going to the service center.

Re: Review: Sony Xperia Tipo

Giving your phone to the service centre is all you can do, if the above steps don't work.
Did you try factory settings and re-installing the software? If it does not work, you have no option, service centre is the only way.
Yes, they might take some time, but the problem will get solved to the core. Also ask them to check the phone completly. Some mails to sony might just help the speed of the process.

All d best!

I did a factory reset. The loudspeakers seem to be working now. Audio jack still not working.
I took a backup with my gmail account but now I can't seem to figure out how to restore my data like contacts applications etc.

Btw my phones liveware manager says headphones are connected even when they aren't! I guess that's the problem. Some defective contact maybe

Re: Review: Sony Xperia Tipo

Thats exactly the same problem I had with my nokia E5. The headphones symbol used to come up even when the headphones are disconnected.
Nokia store told me its a defective jack, replaced within warranty, 5 days is all it took.

Also, didn't you take the backup using a PC?
I have no idea at all about the google account backup. If it was using a PC app for android, the work would have been easier.

I just found out that if I switch on the phone with the earphones plugged in, they work properly! But then the loudspeaker doesn't work.
And if I switch it on without the earphones then the loudspeaker works and the earphones don't.
Maybe some software bug.

Re: Review: Sony Xperia Tipo

If it is so, you can try updating the software using the PC suite for android.
It might just save you a service center visit.
It might take some time, but worth giving it a try.
Service center folks would also update the software in some hours, as per my nokia experience.
Do give it a try and keep us updated.

Aah! Seems like the problem is gone. Right now randomly the liveware manager came up saying headphones are connected. I disabled it.
Then I actually connected the earphones and again that thing came up. Again I disabled it and after testing now for sometime it seems to be working properly.

Re: Review: Sony Xperia Tipo

Thats great. Nice to hear that it sorted out itself.
Just hope that it doesn't resurface again!
I had tried whatever possible on my phone, including the software reset, but finally, the hardware was at fault.

Do you see and difference in the sound quality in the earphones or the loudspeaker?

the sound quality is the same.
now I'm looking to buy a nice case for the phone. not much choices available in Sony unlike Samsung or bb.
I saw a couple of cases where one of them had an apple iPhone logo and the other had a Porsche logo.
bought the Porsche one but now I don't like it too much.

Seems the problem has vanished in the thin air. Congratulations.

Are there flip covers available for sony?
Something like this?
My cousin bought one for 300 bucks from a local store, it had good quality and is super convenient to use!
It protects the phone body as well as the screen when the phone is in the pocket.
