Re: The DSLR Thread

Pentax is making very good DSLRs. At the same price, you may be getting a better equipment from Pentax. But here we are forced to buy either Canon or Nikon, so you don't have any choice.

Yes the camera in question is quite old as well, it doesn't have movie feature, I suggest D3100.

Not sure I understand what you are saying here, R2D2. Whether the 50mm lens is FX or DX, when used on a DX body the effective focal length will be 75mm.

A 35mm lens on a DX would have an equivalent focal length of roughly 50mm.

lucifer1881, not sure what is confusing you. You are saying exactly the same thing I did. In context to the query by theragingbull, the 1.8 D being referred to, and the one that he wanted compatibility info on,is an FX lens.

Re: The DSLR Thread

Hi All,

i own a Canon 550d camera and came through a website which as pristine condition lens for sale.

usually they do the Negotiations when the user tries to go for a new lens by giving the old lens, they pick up the lens in very pristine condition, and provide Canon/ their Warranty for 6 months before they sell.

Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Lens -- i came through this lens which suits my requirement and budget and the price of selling this lens is also cheap(as i am getting it for 10,000) rs.

is it a good buy or not, i am just a mid range photographer.

I would never risk buying a used lens. If you need a good budget telephoto, get the Canon 55~250 - brand new with 2 year warranty for approx 15000/-

Ok it's party time at Nikon: they announced the D3200 - a 24.2 MP (from a DX sensor, wow!) DSLR @ US $700 for the kit with the 18-55mm lens, plus a new 28mm 1.8G nano coated 'gold rim' (Nikon's equivalent of Canon's L series lenses) FX lens again priced at $700.

TBHPians thinking of a D3100 may want to check this new camera out before finalising. Nikon has sure been burning the tarmac since Jan 2012 with multiple product announcements.

Also, the Canon 1DX will be available in June '12 and the 24-70 F/2.8L IS-II, also announced at the same time in Nov 2011, will be available in July. No reasons given for the delay.

Canon says EOS-1D X will arrive in June, with 24-70mm F2.8L II USM in July: Digital Photography Review

Cheers!

You could get it for a couple of thousands less in some of the camera shops. Try calling Doss (Ebby Camera) at 9380283542

Looks like Nikon is affected by a virus called 'mega pixel-o-phobia' !! I feel Sandisk has secretly signed a business deal with Nikon, more mega pixel = more memory cards on sale !! I wont be surprised if they launch a D90s with 36 MP too

How is your D800 doing ? Anything special felt so far ? I dont have an upgrade itch yet unless fashion and glamour comes my way ! Friends who are in regular interaction with me have moved from 5D MII to MIII already and showing off to the best way they can. I love to own a D4 but right now its too high to reach !

Yes, it is in Chennai. Spencer Plaza (Phase 2 if I remember right). I had got my 550d from the same shop around a year back when they were retailing the cam for 34000 with kit lens. Dont think the price is the same though as when I went some time back to pick up the 55-250 lens, the price had increased to around 36k. Good shop though!!! Hope this helps

Do they allow you take a few test shots before buying? Is yes, then IMO its worth taking a few test shots and then if you are satisfied everything is fine, go ahead and seal the deal.

Mind sharing where you are buying it from? I am also on the look for good used lenses. Mostly in the wide angle range something like 10-20mm.
