Shipping can be done, if it coincides with my travel dates.

My friend Sridhar uses the mink brand for his D700 and is pretty satisfied.

BTW Shaju, aren't you down south?

The D700 base is different. Here are few pics of the same.

Looks like it would be either Opteka or Zeikos. I would end up getting from ebay probably, but the waiting is a killer. I ordered an air blower, shoulder strap and a screw adapter from HongKong last week (posted on this thread that day), but the expected delivery is 2 weeks.

I think it will be opteka one more thing I forgot to add before I would be getting two EN EL3e batteries and one wire less remote along with the battery grip in 3k.

It came as a combination pack right ? It might be 3rd party batteries. I had checked some of the sellers on ebay last week. But dont you have 1 battery already in the camera ? Wondering what you are going to do with 3 batteries in total !! Wanna trade one ? Whats your memory capacity ? Mine is an 8GB sandisk extreme, but I might need an additional 16GB for travels as RAW is the regular choice. An 8GB card takes only 520 shots in RAW, out of which I might get only 100 shots that is worth editing .

LBM, I know the D700 uses MB-D10 as the battery pack; the same as D300. What I mentioned was that my friend uses a Mink brand for his D700. I never ever said in my post that the MB-D80 would fit in the D700. I was only commenting on the reliability & satisfaction level of that brand..

English indeed is a funny language...

I am 'sleeping on' the 70-200s, few ENEL3e batteries, battery grips and a 16GB card. Northern brothern are not having time to ship, southern brothern not ready to compromise on the price, I think TIME will heal things for a better tomorrow . I just wanted to post here, because members should not think "where this guy has disappeared after hacking the thread for over 2 pages" ! More updates soon .

Which is the cheapest and dependable place to buy?
Right now, the lowest price I'm getting for this is 89,900/- Is there any place in India where I can get this thing lower than this price?
Delhi. On reignofchaos's advice, I bought an EOS 7D alongwith a 15-85 mm lens EF IS USM for 1.05.

Help!!

Guys,

Need a little bit of help from you guys. My sister is going to fly down from Dubai this month end. So i wanted to know are DSLR's cheaper in Dubai as compared to Indian price. If so, is it marginal or is that a considerable difference. Also, what would be a entry level DSLR. I want to go for the bare minimum as i already have a Kodak and a Sony Cyber shot point and shoot.

Why would you want to go for an entry level DSLR? What are your expectations and the kind of usage?
