cancelled the order on flipkart and bought the digital copy from blizzard. 8GB download and is working fine. All these years of waiting for D3 has been worth it. The game is amazing.

re: PC & Console games - Discussion Thread

Guys, can you suggest me a simple flight simulator, in which one can learn to take off, fly and land?!!!

It should be very simple, not the one with difficult controls. It is for my younger brother.

For your requirement get Microsoft Flight. Its a new version which is available for free download from the site.
In case you become an enthusiast and would like to have a flying experience close to rral world conditions with ATC and friends, go for flight simulator 9 if slow computer or go for flight simulator X if good comp. For more info, just check out youtube videos. I fly regularly with friends around the world and its quite a lot of fun
P.s all the games mentioned above are from microsoft studios. Please dont try Xplane. NO good graphics as such and its mainly for the hardcore aviation fans and real pilots.
If you do wanto visit youtube first try the channels jon5700, jerdooflightx, dexter1129 cessna154. Cessna154 channel has videos of all the three games. However the videos on the other channels are very good and show off the capabilities of these games
Ill provide the links in the edit.
Regards

Enjoy in HD

And for anything regarding flight controls and stuff you can pm me

If graphics are not an issue, try this : http://www.ysflight.com/. It is free.
Microsoft FS X is great but costs a bomb, but is worth the price. For lower end PCs, Microsoft FS 2004/9 works great and is comparatively cheaper too. But learning curve on these can be steep for some.

IF you like to shoot down and bomb things, get Strike Fighters series. Its a simple, light weight military flight sim. For hardcore modelling of military airborne radars, weapons etc, try Falcon 4.0, Lock on or DCS : A-10.

Get a good joystick too. Half the fun in lying in a Flight sim is using a joystick.

Regarding joysticks, have you used the xbox360 controller? It works only on fsx but is just a delight to use. What controllers are you using? Im on logitech extreme.

P.s fsx just cost 3000bucks. But the addons do cost a bomb especially PMDG and OrbX.

Nope, I am using Logitech Attack 3, find it to be perfect for online dogfights in Falcon 4.0.

FS X Gold is my FS X install. Bought it from e-bay for 3000 odd.

There are plenty of good freeware aircraft for FS. Tom Ruth's recently released MD-10/KC-10 package is great , so are Posky 737s and Project Airbus A3XX series.

Current addiction is to Call of Duty 2/4 on our office LAN with sniper rifles only It's so addictive, now-a-days, methinks a lot of us come to office to play our game against each other late in the evening, when work is under control.

re: PC & Console games - Discussion Thread

Guys, thanks a ton. I did download MS Flight for him. He really liked it. I noticed it is easy to fly in that game using a mouse. But problem was he wanted to fly real Boeing and Airbus flights to ferry passengers (!!!).

Now I guess the only option is to buy Flight Simulator X. Yes, my computer is pretty high end, so it can handle such games. But will FS X be easy to fly?

You can also try the much cheaper MS FS 2004 and then graduate to FS X. That way, if your brother loses interest in flight simming(highly unlikely), it won't prove to be that costly.

But will FS X be easy to fly?

Flying single engined Cessnas should be fairly easy. Flying Boeings & Airbuses is far more tougher. Default A321 behaves like a rocket and feels very artificial.

But if you learn the systems well enough, you can make the a/c land on its own, using autopilot, even in poor visibility and windy conditions.

Here's my 744 on approach to Changi. Note the APP(Approach) and SPD(Speed) switches are on.

How do you maintain the throttle and rudders on the 360 controller? I am also using the Logitech Extreme.

Hi friends, the FS bug has bit me too! And I have ordered FSX.

While reading some reviews, I noticed that FSX requires a high end PC, else FS IX is better.

My PC config is as follows :

MSI/ATI Radeon R4850 1GB DDR3 graphics card
G Skill 4 GB Ram

ASUS motherboard

AMD
Phenom II processor

Is this fine for FS X?

Also, can someone suggest me a budget friendly and good joystick please? It can be basic as it is only for FS X, I wont be doing any bombing or shooting!

The config should be fine for FS X. It runs fine on my laptop with far lesser RAM & a very basic GPU, i had to set graphic settings to medium high though. Experiment with FSX graphics setting to get optimum frame rates. You wouldn't want FS X to become a slideshow in case high graphics settings become too demanding for your PC

For joysticks, look here( ignore the racing wheels): Joystick Accessories: Gamingconsole Accessories List: Flipkart.com.
I would suggest to avoid Genius joysticks. They tend to go bad soon and start making funny noises( springs controlling the axis fail, which makes you to pull or push harder than you actually should).
