Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

Hi guys, just contributing to adding variety to the thread. I must say there are some brilliant photographers in our community.

The below picture was taken at a place called "Tiger Hill" approx 18 kms from Darjeeling town. It was a full moon night in the first week of november 2010, we had heard about the moon lit Himalayas and so we went there ourselves to see it first hand and got to see this view of Mt. Kangchenjunga (27,720 ft). This was clicked at 11:30 pm without flash. The light the has lit up the mountains is courtesy of the lovely moon.

This is how the Majestic Mt. Kangchenjunga looked the following morning lit up by the first rays of the morning sun at dawn.

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

Lovely collection of images guys. Not active on forum for a very long time. Must have missed a lot. Need to go through at least 30-40 pages.

Superb capture amrisharm. Once in a blue moon (no pun intended) you get to see this stuff.

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

The master of monochrome is back and how. We've been missing you Rudra. Lovely work there.
Clevermax, that first shot is awesome and you said that the trip is spoiled?
Lovely shots there guys, I'm loving page 889 and 890 he he..

Here are few more from my side,

At Dal Lake, taken from a rocking boat, so high ISO noise is there. Wish I was not on the boat that day and took a steady tripod shot..

From Kaas ,loved this table-top mountain just before Kaas..
The Official non-auto Image thread-img_0261.jpg

And from my most favourite place for photography, i.e. Pangong Tso (near Spangmik)

Thank you very much sir, a complement coming from someone like yourself is that bit extra special. Indeed I was very lucky to be able to click the above pic, considering how common cloud cover is around Darjeeling. My wish is to one day go there again to catch this same view, but next time I shall be sure to have a DSLR by my side (whether it be borrowed or bought ! lol).

P.S Brilliant shots of yours, I just envy the clarity of the details in the picture.

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

@wischvuanaudh Very Nice.

Kaushik, Need I say anything?

Question to Rudra-da, Kaushik, Shaju,

Till date any B&W that I have snapped/created is only as an after thought.
- How does one target a capture for B&W?
- Anything to be kept in mind while snapping?
- Specific PP requirements/careabouts?

Continuing on the landscape theme. Another morning from atop the
the hills of Devarayanadurga.

Monochrome? Well, I'm least qualified to comment on monochromes. We would need Rudra's comment on this subject. For most of the people who shoot for B&W it's about visualization of that scene in different layers of different tones/contrasts. For me B&W is an after thought most of the time i.e. I decide only when I'm converting the photograph. mostly a photograph with nice contrast and good lighting will become a nice B&W too, basically the same concept of a good photograph but in B&W [ I told you, I'm not the right person]. Rudra Sir, help!!!

Ha ha dude, I actually missed IS that day on my lens (I was using 17-40mm). This was shot at ISO400 1/25 at the widest aperture i.e. f4. Probably one of the best sunset views I've ever scene and I was never more frustrated. Next day I was ready with lock, stock and all the smoking lens barrels but alas, as they say, a moment passed is never gonna be there again. This is what I got next day,

I think you should not talk about your images, it takes away the attention. My week is made just looking at that pink sky ! Damn, you got the same color even at Lavasa, next time I will be hunting for a pink sky. Please post more
