Hey, very good attempt, decent bokeh. BTW, why did you use F/5.6, had you reduced to 2.8 you could have got even more impressive bokeh. Which lens was this?

Thanx. I used the d50 kit lens: 18-55 (f3.5-5.6). I clicked the pics at 55mm, and f5.6 was the maximum aperture I could get.

I figured that must have been the reason...

But I didn't know which lens. Now you must be wishing for the the EF-S 17-85mm.

Mostly Orange county fair and couple of take off's at the airport. All Long exposure pics. I am posting dialup friendly pics below. To see bigger size, go to the gallery here, click on "L" for Large image(Not too large, just around 800 odd pixels). The gallery has 21 images, posting few I like the most.
1. This ride was called the Kamikaze. Imagine the pendulm, only that it goes round and round. So you actually get upside down. Scared?

2. Centrifugal/pital force. Put you inside a cylinder, which is level. Spin at high speed, tilt fully. The spinning keeps you from falling. Its another matter that after it stops you cant walk without falling.

3. Unknown but real scary. It spins and whirls. You get to feel G fiorces in every direction. The in the second pic, the top is spinning with people upside down

4.A general view of the fare with couple of merry go rounds featured

5. Up Up and away. A small plane taking off.

you bet!!! can't wait to get some new lenses. currently planning to buy a Nikon AF-S Nikkor 18 - 200 mm f/3.5-5.6G DX ED VR. Any comments anyone on this lens?

I am not a Nikon user, but I had researched this lens while considering D70s, apparently Ken Rockwell loves this lens.

Tanveer, some awesome work there. So many great night shots from a single day, I can visualise the grin on your face, these shots would give immense satisfaction. I also saw the gallery, you should delete some of the bad shots, keep only the perfect ones.

Delete? Well I deleted lots of shots, you havent seen the full thing yet

Thats why this gallery has only 21 pics.
But one thing I have found out, all you need is very little patience and a remote to get great night shots at a well lit fair.

You know the drill, I often end up with 5 shots after clicking 100. You can do away 4, 11, 12, etc from your gallery.

Very little patience?

I feel great patience is required is for getting the perfect night shot. Getting the right exposure is easy because of multiple retries afforded by the dSLR, but getting the composition right is very difficult.

@tsk1979: They look impressive and i have a lot of difficulty taking the night shots. Can the experts give some tips on how to take night shots and shots like these.

I use a panansonic 12x optical 5 Mp camera fz5

Really, a remote release can do wonders to night photography. Planning to buy a ML-L3 remote for my d50, but no dealer in delhi seems to have it in stock.

First you'll need a sturdy tripod and a remote release. Then your camera needs to have manual control on TTL metering, aperture, speed and ISO. Learn how to use these controls and then practice, practice, practice. Sorry, there is no short cut.

If you can get a circuit diagram(For canon one exists on the web, I bet one does for nikon too) make your own,
Remote releases have no electronics involved, they are just combinations of switches. You can make one with a solder and some wires and all it will cost is 50rs

d50 doesn't support wired remotes; only wireless ones :-( preetam had promised to import one for me.
