Technically speaking noise is a manifestation of spillover information from adjacent pixels, and yes it does happen in shadows. But again it depends on the sensor size. My suggestion would be using PS and then play around with the RGB spectrum to give that zing. You can try using a software called Neat Image. Pretty good one.

The jellyfish lights itself up like that, it produces its own light...i wish all animals did that when we wanted to click them in low light

Great picture of the MGM Grand. Was it Automatic or Manual focus? On a tripod i am assuming? And, finally which camera? Too many Q's?

It was not on manual focus, no tripod..rested the camera on a wall, camera is Sony DSC H50...and a wide angle lens too here are a few more
