How do you downsize your pics? What is the original file size and the reduced?

I am downsizing JPEGs to 700 or 800 px here - JPEGs (say 1200-1500px) that were were earlier created for posting on other places and platforms. I typically use save for web option when downsizing or exporting. Yes, I know downsizing JPEGs multiple times come with significant IQ penalty.

I know that if I worked with the original processed TIFF, or created a few export options in the beginning (different sizes) for each use case the problem would get solved.

Anyway not a biggie. I know the solution but sometimes not in a mood to go through the steps. If I have to share high res files or print, then of course it is a different matter :-)

Sometimes I wonder why you are sharing some beautiful shots in low res. You should try this

Super easy and convenient to use and almost no loss of quality.

Sunrise from my terrace today> Nikon D610 + Tamron 15-30mm f/2.8 VR. Best way to downsize is to make a copy and downsize in paint.

Or you could use the resizing tool in Paint and resize with the pixel count you prefer. I step down from 6016 to 2000 in the long end. It's pretty decent and easy and retains enough detail.

Re: The Official non-auto Image thread

Picture was clicked by me during the fort trek. This is ant trap created by an Antlion, a very skilled insect predator, waiting inside this burrow for any unsuspecting ant to fall.

A quick shot on the phone. The leaves were a lemon-yellow.

May be flip it horizontally ? May be if the second tree (background) had not been in the frame ?

What drew me to the pic were the leaves of the first tree, against the noon sky. This was a phone pic. Let me check the camera - though not expecting much difference in terms of the trees in the frame .

There can be different elements in an image. E.g
colours (contrast, complimentary colours etc.), leading lines, use of negative space, balance or the conscious choice to make it unbalanced etc.

Branches can be difficult to shoot. And not because of dslr vs mobile. But because it can be tricky to get the composition right.
