Re: Photoshop/Digital Art thread

A question on HDR imaging:

1 Need a 101 class/link etc to arrive at HDR images
2 What S/W or plugins can be used to render/process them? (Open Source versus paid)
3 I always notice that HDR garners a strong love-hate relationship. Folks either absolutely like, or just hate it to distraction.
Is this observation common?

4 Even I notice that some times that, the extra "content" on the image for example; all variations of shadows seem to make
a natural landscape a tad artificial. May be for objects to be portrayed from a marketing standpoint, HDR may be very good
but for natural captures, element of elegance and simplicity just goes out of the window.

Any comments on this aspect?

Damn, your mod makes it look so much better. What the heck were the M&M designers thinking with that overdone front on the XUV500. Sometimes simple is better and timeless.

Re: Photoshop/Digital Art thread

How can one get a Zoom Out blur in Photoshop CS4 instead of the regular Zoom In blur that it offers under Radial blur?

You will find an option called Camera Blur under the same set of options. You can specify the lens type, aperture, blade count etc. Use that to get the desired effect.

Still not able to get the effect, mind sharing some values. I tried with a lot of combinations but it just wouldn't match the Radial->Zoom Blur

Well there are no set values as such. It depends on the camera you use to click the pics and the blur you're looking at.

The best way to get a realistic effect is to have different blur values for different distances. Set the blade count to 9 since most lens have 9 blades. The bokeh will be nice and round enough.

Use a feathered selection and start the blur process. Increase the blur value for objects farthest from the subject. Else everything but the subject will be blurred equally and the image will look doctored.
