This was shot in Kerala. The camera i use is a basic P&S, so i dont think i have too many options when it comes to avoiding over-exposure. Also, since this wasnt a planned shoot, didnt have the liberty to even choose the time of day.

I too use a point n shoot camera, a Sony DSC H50, and I guess exposure setting is the most basic of stuff you can control on any camera, what is the make of your camera? Which brand and what model? May be i could help you out

TG, the camera i use is a Canon IXUS 75. Do let me know how i can change the exposure settings. Help is surely welcome.

Oh ok, my sister has this same cam! I will tell you how to adjustthe exposure values, by the way this is a pretty decent compact camera. i have used it for a while!

1)Click the button in the middle of the joy stick/pad to access the main functions.
3)Now click the down arrow to access exposure compensation..its is here u set your ev values...it ranges from -2 to +2...negetive reduces exposure so its best for over bright situtations and positive is best for dark conditions. TO setthe values simply press the left or right arrows, to decrease or increase exposure compensation value respectively.

This is a video link i amposting so you can get it absolutely clear. There is a part where he talks about the functions and exposure compensation. Keep your eyes and ears open for that.

@TG - love the golf. great shot and the feel matches the surroundings too.

@Stratos - Nice shot, but lately (maybe ever since you've been on this HDR chakkar?) a lot of your images look very patchy in terms of brightness.

The side of the civic is too dark compared to the highlights on the front bumper, roofline, rear wheel.

One face of the white brick wall in the background is too bright compared to the rest of the background. It steals the focus.

The area dead center in the top half of the image seems very dark. Almost as if theres dark smoke in the air.

Why is this happening? HDR attempt? Post processing?

Hey Rehaan, this picture was taken on a very rainy day and it is originally very dull because of the overall lighting, it is not really an HDR but just the curves have been adjusted differently for the car and the background. I was testing the new 55-200mm lens, but yes, will try to look out for these things in the forthcoming pictures
