was that background actually there? or was it photoshopped in? I mean the sky with the clouds. I get the feeling that the sky was selectively darkened enough to bring out the details, without darkening the car at the same time.
brilliant picture.

Nice job with Verna, Rudra

satya:the swift one would have been better if the background was planned or PSed.

Kp: you just woke up? This pic would be 1year old?

This is probably the first pic I took in manual mode using my friend's Canon Powershot S5 IS. Just played around with the settings to get this. This is late evening after sunset under a sodium vapour lamp.

I am now using picasa to see if I can improve it a bit.

So what do you guys say? Is there any hope at all from this? criticism is welcome as I want to learn.

Cars look good from a low angle.
Try getting "down and dirty".

There was no tripod. I kept it on the roof of another car(Zen Estilo) and took the photo.

Another pic, this time from a 5 year old Canon A400 P&S camera. Too many reflections on the car I feel.

Vid, the second snap is much better than the first.
IMO, the first requires quite some post-processing to make it more captivating.

I know it needs some PS work but does the pic have potential to look captivating. I have no idea on PS.

Actually both need PS.

The first one has no composition, so don't bother with PS, just let it be. The second one much better, may not need much PS, but certain composition improvements are needed it.

Guys, Photoshopping is not a fairy tale kiss, it can't turn any frog into a prince. Photoshopping should be used to turn rough uncut diamond into a polished and cut diamond. If the photo doesn't have potential, it is better to delete than apply a thick coat of PS makeup. I delete most of the images I shoot, once I view it on the computer monitor. Once you employ ruthless quality control, the average image quality of your shots will increase.
