Well, it was taken while the car was stopped in the middle of the tunnel.
The motion blur is added in post.
Exif :
Camera Nikon D3S
Exposure 0.067 sec (1/15)
Aperture f/2.8
Focal Length 14 mm
ISO Speed 800

. But we had it all planned and timed. We managed without any issues.

Do you rely on ambient lighting, or off camera flash for such shots?

I thought that the shot was taken by you, hunched and cramped in the back of another car :P, while the car in the shot was coming towards the same direction. Never knew that the Blur was PP'ed.

By the way, 14mm in the full format shows the difference!

I guess he took it handheld and hence the heavy blur. Camera handled it ok otherwise with very limited noise for a P&S.

Yes.

The camera was handheld and the windows were rolled up because of rain
