Our dog died at ripe age of 16 years of age in 2015 and we went through similar pain, especially mom because he was always around her doing silly things. We thought of another dog but resisted for that same reason. Its hard to train your mind and heart to something like this.

This particular case was immensely heavy because of the unknown factor in it. Not knowing what happened or what will happen is rather excruciating than a definite circumstance like death.
On one hand you have sliver of hope that won't let you sleep and on other you have these bleak, morbid thoughts.

Hello Street Cat

In China, a company called Guangxi Hachong Network is placing feeders all across the country for stray cats. Stray cats can come inside and eat food at any times they want. All of this is live-streamed for anyone to see.

But, the main purpose is not to feed them, but to neuter them. They follow a procedure called "TNR" which stands for Trap, neuter and return.

They basically look at the cats that are coming in, and neuter them if they aren't, to control stray cat population. They are also returned to the place they are taken from, so no risk of cat being misplaced (as the name suggests)

It has amassed a huge fan following and spawned a ton of memes. Each cat is given a name based on their characteristics and behaviour.

Mr.Fresh
He was given that name because he does not eat until fresh food is dropped in front of his eyes. He won't eat leftovers even if they are a few seconds old and has a distinctive stare until new food is dropped.


Gluttonous beast
This cat eats a lot so they named him that. Also, moved around like a beast.

Usually, when we buy cat accessories or toys, the cats find the cardboard box lot more interesting:



However, I finally found something on the internet that cats actually find useful -> an AmazonBasics Cat Tree @ Rs.3,499. The kittens love to hang around in the cat tree. The cylindrical supports double up as scratching posts. It has an attached 'mouse toy' too, which kittens might like. And the mini-house is a favorite spot for snoozing.





It was quite a task to assemble the cat tree though. Comes with a 9 page intruction sheet!

Ask Mr. Vinay Kamath to make some more modifications (if he is up to it):

1) Needs a roof and a floor
2) A ramp to the entrance perhaps
3) Adult cats will not mind this, but a kitten house needs to be made cozier. Especially if it is a lone kitten.
4) Since there is lots of space inside, he can make multiple levels
5) Primary sleep area needs to have either a window or a line of sight to the entrance.
6) Line up the box with a velvety material (see cat tree)
