Do take precaution when petting him, don't let him bite you anywhere. As he's a stray, you might not know how badly it may affect. Even if you get bit somehow, wash the bitten area with soap thoroughly and consult doctor. Cheers for becoming a cat dad !
Thanks!
And good tip. We do give him chicken, mutton etc. I believe he feeds in multiple houses judging by his size and health.

We are very cautious about him getting anxious. And only pet him when he is relaxed. Getting a bite is certainly on my mind and mostly let him have his space.
He hasn't tried biting yet but has scratched with his paws which have razor sharp claws. After he scratches and we pull our arm in a jiffy he stares at us amused.
I don't think he's attacking us but I think he doesn't understand why are we scared of his claws.

This behaviour may be too deep set to alter now, but the only potential answer is to get him neutered.

This is deadly serious. He will win fights while he can, and loose them and stronger tom cats come along. He may get so badly injured that he dies.

Cats nip and scratch in play and affection. They seldom actually sink their teeth in, although it has happened to me a couple of times. Just... I'd recommend rabies injections all round. I'd recommend this to anyone who spends time with animals!

Yes. I hope Bandu will be happy.

I am letting my family name him what they like. They may name him Bandu but while on one hand I want that, but on the other I want individual identity and memory to be retained. I do fondly remember each of the previous cats by their individual names and their life stories.

This kitten is a gem! Very friendly but obviously not litter trained. My parents took kindly to it but mom is angry about him peeing only on the mattress

Right now he faintly smells like car tyre and petrol mix. (What was that similar perfume?) I'm loving him! But he can't stay here in a closed flat on 2nd floor, we have never kept pets and we don't permanently live here and pets are not allowed in my other apartment.

Tomorrow I will be transporting him with me to them. They will be super happy!

Can't thank you all enough!

Yes. Getting him neutered is going to be a task though. Besides will it not be too invasive? Speaking of fights, he is back with fresh wounds today. His ear tip is bleeding/clipped. And one scratch near the nose which seems dried up though.

Not really. Especially compared to what the ladies have to suffer*. He will probably hate you for a couple of days for simply trapping him and taking him to the vet, but he'll get over it.

*Guys, this applies to humans too!

How do I evict these intruders ? They seem to have found a harmless house owner and pitched their tent here. I have to park another car there.

Seems like a bunch of harmless cows actually. Can't you just moo(ve) them away?

Re: Team-BHPians and their Pets

On the topic of "Travelling with pets", I was looking for recommendations on how to keep my fellow stable at the back of the car.

To elaborate - we have a medium sized Golden Retriever and an Innova. My 4-legged gets to use the entire 3rd Row+Boot for himself (luggage goes into the 2nd row and on the roof. In the large space, he can move, turn, lie down, stretch. We maintain lower speeds when we're travelling with him (say under 100kmph).

But since he isn't belted down like us up front, he does roll quite a bit - even when lying flat on his side.

Any advice here on how to keep him secured?

Hi, could you point me to such a harness? Or are you referring to a regular walking harness?

Re: Team-BHPians and their Pets

Look what I found in the Society's letterbox today morning:

They are part of the 5-6 kittens that made our Society home in the past few months and used the chairs, shown in the first picture, to lie down. One of them made the leap to the letterbox and till I checked in the evening was still there.
