Nexon EV battery problem twice in the same trip | Battery replaced once, still stuck at Lucknow

I have driven my max for 96000 kms. I have taken the car everywhere including Ladakh, so I do have some knowledge for EV driving.

This is what happened in my recent trip - Bangalore - Kolkata - darjeeling - Kolkata - Haridwar - Bangalore.

In Kolkata after coming back from Darjeeling, battery percentage started dropping 1% less than 1 kms below 10 percent. I took it to a local service center, and they replaced the battery. they kept the car for 12 days.

Post that, I continued towards Lucknow - Haridwar. It is a different story that we do not have proper working charger (except one or two) in kolkata to Varanasi stretch. I had to stay at Bodhgaya and also another unscheduled stop at Durgapur. When I reached Varanasi, HV critical error popped up and the car was unmovable. this was just after battery change. Happened twice but went off after restarting. I took it to Varanasi service center and they cleared some code and assured that it won't happen again.

I proceeded towards Lucknow. After I reached Lucknow, battery percentage was dropping less than 1 kms for 1 percent, somehow I reached the charger at Lulu mall with almost zero percent charge.

Kolkata Tata CCM connected to Lucknow CCM Mr. Avinash. He arranged the car to be evaluated. Accordingly Mr. Asutosh followed up from dealer, kept the car for two days, TACO team was involved, and finally said all is ok. When I went today and took the test drive , same issue was persisting, Dealer technician who was in test drive with me agreed that there is a problem.

However, now Mr. Avinash from Tata is saying it is not a problem. He says they released some update which may drop batteries less than 1 km for 1 percent below 10 percent and that the car should never be taken below 10 percent. Finally he said he will arrange somebody to drive the car along with me from 100 percent to 5 percent, and if the range is 300 kms, the battery is fine. I told him that I can easily get 300 kms in 100 percent to 20 percent, so he should not focus on 100 to 5 range, rather focus on fixing the problem. But he is not ready to change his opinion.

So now I am stuck at Lucknow.

Oh man I love your dare devil attitude. I guess you got stuck near jammu with no help during your adventure to Ladakh in a EV and broke your head with TATA guys for few days, that too with family on board.

Inspite of the above you went ahead with another long range trip in a EV, hats off to you. Personally I won’t enjoy such challenges where my mind would be completely engaged with charging infrastructure and forgets to enjoy the trip. Time is more expensive than the cost of fuel.

Hope you find a speedy solution for your predicament.
