MG has teased its new CyberX SUV before its debut at the upcoming Shanghai Motor Show. It will be the second model in MG’s Cyber lineup, the first being the Cyberster sports car.

The first teaser images reveal that the CyberX will have boxy and rugged styling. This is unlike any other SUV in the MG’s portfolio. It gets full-width light bars at the front and rear, along with illuminated MG logos. Flush door handles and squared wheel arches are also seen.

The CyberX will be underpinned by SAIC’s latest E3 electric platform and will be among the first MG models to adopt this. The parent company describes it as its “first fully electric, system-level architecture”. This platform is designed to support multiple body styles from compact cars to SUVs and sportscars. It also has the flexibility to accommodate multiple powertrain configurations.





The new architecture features a new CTB (cell-to-body) construction, where the battery structure contributes to the rigidity of the car's body, helping to reduce weight and improve efficiency.

MG says the new SUV will be one of the first models to get the new Zebra 3.0 operating system and digital user interface. It is designed to offer more contemporary voice recognition and connectivity features than the existing OS.

Going forward, new MG models based on the E3 platform will also use Horizon Robotics' J6 chip. It is expected to support new developments in driver monitoring, navigation and semi-autonomous functions.

There are no details on the powertrain options of the CyberX SUV yet.

MG plans to launch eight new models over the next two years under the Cyber brand. These will include sedans, SUVs and sports cars.

Denza 'Z' from BYD looks really good. They should have continued their partnership with Mercedes for some time.

Looks pretty close to Land Cruiser 300 from the side profile
