Mercedes-AMG working on a new electric supercar concept
Mercedes-AMG is set to reveal a new all-electric supercar concept. The carmaker says it is designed to rewrite the term ‘electric performance’. The car is expected to be unveiled in the middle of the year and aims to showcase AMG’s future electric performance capabilities.
A high-ranking insider at Mercedes-AMG told Autocar, “Where the EQXX aimed to go the furthest, this aims to go the fastest. It will be the fastest-accelerating car AMG has ever produced.”
The design of the new supercar is said to be not too different from the One-Eleven concept revealed in 2023. The new car will also showcase AMG’s next-generation drivetrain technology, including an axial-flux electric motor developed by the Mercedes-owned UK company Yasa. This same powertrain will also be used in the Mercedes-AMG GT SUV and the electric version of the GT 4-Door Coupé.
The concept will feature the next-generation battery, which could be a solid-state unit developed in collaboration with Mercedes’ High-Performance Powertrain division in Brixworth.
The new AMG electric supercar concept is part of the car maker’s 2-year product launch programme.
