Congrats. Looks great!

Guess you just escaped the 6% road tax on EVs in MH.

How long did they take to come and install the home charger etc?

Yes, nearly 3 lacs saved.

When I got confirmation that I will get car soon, they sent surveyor. Guy who came was excellent and very professional. He spent at least 3hrs checking everything. My parking space is 160meters away from electricity meter room. Which is requires 150meters extra 10mmsq 4core armored wire.

Then I got sock when I heard cost. i.e. 1.6Lac for installation, plus I will have to get new electricity meter which will cost around 30-40k through agent. So around 2Lac. So if anyone want to buy EV and wants to install new charger do consider their meter to parking space distance.

BMW does installation for free upto 10meters wire included. But sourcing additional length is customer headache.

As my parking spot in under another building in same complex, I am working on getting meter installed in another building so I don't have take this 160meter wire installation route.

So installation is pending.

Mean time, inside my society we have 2 Tata charging stations as common charger, so using that. It cost around Rs.15-16 per kilo watt so still cheaper but it just 7.2kw charger, little slow compare to BMW's 11kw.

Got it from Navnit Motors, Malad, Mumbai. Booked around 4-5Feb and got confirmation around 25th Feb. Somehow I am lucky to get this early. As per Navnit Malad Sales Executive, I am the first one to get it from her.

I will share detail interaction with some photos from Test drive to delivery.

Congratulations! It looks lovely. I am planning to book it in Bangalore soon. The home charger installation would definitely have been a bit of a shocker. Did you go in for the extended warranty and other packages such as the BMW essentials and Advance Car Eye Pro?

Thank you, Yes home charger installation was socker, but I wont blame that to BMW. It was my parking area which is far from my meter room.

I got 4 years maintenance package for Rs 27k. This car requires service year 2 years so its cheap instead of BMW essentials. Which I didnt feel like worth buying it. They did force me alot saying its mandatory etc.

I am planning to buy NEXDIGITRON 4k 3-channel or 70mai A810 True 4K.

Hi, sorry but can you confirm if the 11kW charger is installed free of charge.
As i have attached from the screenshot of the brochure, it says complimentary. Also in my place we already have a tata 6.6kW box and
it should not be difficult to install this box next to it. The electricity meter box is also less than 5ms from the shed.
But in the given on road cost they have included 1.6 lakhs for the charger. Am i being ripped off.

Please help regards this.

Thanks in advance.

Charger and installation is free of charge this includes 10M cable. Anything additional will be charged.
The 5m cable mentioned is the charger cable, not the cable from the power source to the charger.

Hi,

The installation is free, including up to 10 meters of wire from the meter to your wall box. The wall box charger is free. They charged me 1Lac for VPC+RTO, etc. (which I believe is fake). Apart from that, they will add some shampoos, cleaners, hub caps, etc., for 30k as an essential package, which they claim is mandatory. Please don't fall for it.

You might have to increase the sanctioned load to 11kw or more; otherwise, the electricity board will fine you for using more than the sanctioned load.

I hope this helps.

It sure does help. Thanks a lot.
Please update your ownership experience, especially the range you are getting in city and on highway drives. And wish you many safe miles and enjoyable drives in the beemer.

Guys, I believe I am first ix1 owner from this forum (Nov 2023) and have unfortunate news to share.

I think I made a massive mistake by buying it. This car doesnt seem to be engineered well, and BMW India seems to have no idea on how to fix it.

Yes, bmw India doesn't know how to fix these cars, I am from Thane area and we have bmw service center, when I called about query over setup of my account in my new ix1, they replied they are not trained to work on new electric vehicles.

I was like if you guys from tier 1 city telling me this, god bless rest of the India.

Why does BMW insist on slapping the M-Sport badge to every car it sells though? The 2025 BMW iX1 is neither M nor Sport. It's a family car with people keen on getting into the EV Wagon and the added bonus of BMW Badge. Fair VFM, while not technically as advanced as the Ioniq 5 the interiors and feeling of luxury will definitely be a win. Wonder how many units BMW managed to sell since launch though.

That give you a distinct look with m-badge not only performance. Same in europe/north america where they sale m-badge as option/package. On average people go with looks than just pure performance.

There is currently 2-3 months wait, so yes its selling in good numbers.

Can you please confirm the source, I was helping out a friend and we are confused with what the official website has to say, it doesn’t necessarily say it includes motor-

Battery is covered for 8 years. Not the motors. Thats the exact reason I took extended warranty upto 5 years of ownership when i got the ix1 in late 2023.

My 2 cents - Opt for extended warranty on the car.
