On the last part, for each their own, but for me the top speed of 180 is definitely a factor not to even consider an iX1 if I am in the market. That matters a lot personally. And for that reason Volvo’s in India are totally out of my consideration.
For driving experience, the top speed is less important than how fast it gets there, and there EVs will beat ICE cars.

More important, where do you think you will do 180? Besides the fact that it's illegal all through the country, it is irresponsible and definitely dangerous to others on the road.

They said they expect the allocation list Feb end or early March. Yes, it looks like it might be a bit of a wait.

Do we know what is part of the 'Spare wheel set' accessory? Wondering if its something like the Volvo XC40 recharge type where we would need to tie the spare wheel in the luggage area.

Yes, there is no space in the boot other than to strap the spare wheel in the boot area. This will reduce the overall cargo space.

I think when it comes to EV, range is something significant if not everything.
A BMW EV on ICE platform, FWD, 400 km range, 250 NM torque and 57L price tag doesn’t make much sense in 2024 compared to the current EV standards.

Its not an ICE platform, the same platform has been made for both ICE and Electric from the start. Unlike Merc, BMW has decided to use a common platform for both ICE and EV. Advantages of a born ICE platform are very rarely used properly by companies other Tesla. It's a 49L EV and a car that looks like the usual BMWs , and not a cartoon that will be enough for many.

You can see something like an i7 costs more than an EQS but i7 sells a lot more, with a shorter range. Born EV platform is nice, more range is nice but there is a lot more to a car than specs.

For similar numbers, I opted for the 20000kms/year package.
BMW is milking the demand that is generated for the LWB version.
Can you share the deal pls?

Done with my test drive today. Other than the ride and comfort one of the primary objective of my better-half is to do a back to back comparo with our 2017-X3-Xdrive.

Initial impressions:
1. The car looks fantastic from the front.
2. Very matured suspension over sever speed bumps, lose gravel and rubble.
3. Composed at high speeds (over a newly laid BT road).
4. I and my wife switched driver seat 3 times and every time there are at least half dozen taps to switch collision warnings etc.
5. Switching between the modes is another touch'y affair
6. I must admit, I have not used voice commands which would've made our life a lot easier.
7. 9 sft-moonroof is nice to have; but "summer" already. None of us are a fan.
8. Black and Tan interiors are sweet.

Comparison with X3:
We are lucky that both the current X3 and the new ix1LWB are in same shade which made this comparison a tad easier.
2025 BMW iX1 LWB (U12) Review-20250225_060720202_ios.jpg
1. From the outside, ix1LWB looks as tall as X3; however, from the inside, it feels a lot more cramped.
2025 BMW iX1 LWB (U12) Review-20250225_060733088_ios.jpg
2. We felt X3 is a lot wider on the outside and roomy from inside too.
3. Considering highest seating positions; X3 is commanding and ix1 is sporty but lower.
4. Anybody switching from another bimmer are going to miss the idrive & gear lever very badly.
5. Parking brake is not a lift up button; just another push/touch. Not intuitive. However the ring-type gear shifter works as good as a regular gear lever. I miss the feel and size of the L E V E R though.
6. Flap type handles are of good quality; again, need some getting used to.
7. Steering is super-light but not vague.
8. B-mode is causing a lot of irritation while I was in passenger seat; feels like, when a new driver takes a highway for the first time and breaks hard often out of anxiety or lack of experience. My head kept going back and forth whenever my wife takes her foot off the accelerator. This is the most discomforting but economical mode though.
9. Like all EVs, very quiet cabin which can help you count the number of treads on each tyre on nice roads (I mean, tyre noise)
10. Rear seats: I am almost six-foot-tall, sits as comfortably as in my X3; knees up position.
11. We both could see the bonnet line from the driver's seat.

Considering the subsidies on electric vehicles in Telangana, 49L ex-showroom price translates to 53.5 L OTR which makes the car sweeter when I consider a trade-off.

Overall, the car and further test drives; mmm, it's a good 'HEAD'ache to have for few months.

By the way, bookings are closed currently and may open in Q3-2025.

I think BMW has a new platform for the born EV’s - Neue Klasse (New Class) The existing one probably used as an intermediate platform for transition between ICE and born EV

Hi Adhik,

Have you heard anything from SA? My SA just informed me that there's been a delay with shipments and I'll have to wait until August

That's quite a wait!

I was told that they have an allocation for a Skyscraper Grey vehicle that should likely come in by mid-April.

May I know the exact date of your booking? We booked on the 31st of January. Something's fishy with the KUN Coimbatore dealer

Just got my iX1 delivered few days back, if you have any questions do share, I will try to answer.

Got it from Navnit Motors, Malad, Mumbai. Booked around 4-5Feb and got confirmation around 25th Feb. Somehow I am lucky to get this early. As per Navnit Malad Sales Executive, I am the first one to get it from her.

I will share detail interaction with some photos from Test drive to delivery.

Jan 28.

Kun did mention they’ve taken over 160 bookings over TN so far and the demand is high for the grey and black models, with allocation on the grey being minimal.
