Re: BMW iX1 Long Wheelbase @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

Was looking to finalize it but 4.52 lakhs for 7 year extended warranty seems to be pretty expensive. How bad are the maintenance costs and reliability of say >5 year bmw cars?

Re: BMW iX1 Long Wheelbase @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

Just my rants as just yesterday I had a chat with the local BMW dealer about iX1.

I am planning to do test drive of ix1 LWB and the new X3 in the coming week. I really like the LWB with extra legroom in the rear in the videos but my only concern is the reliability part of the ev and the resale. On the other side, the other option is 96 lakhs for the X3 is really beyond my budget. So the only option is ix1. The registration cost savings is also a big deal in the ev. Ix1 LWB lands around 51 lakhs. Even a 8-9 years of ownership in ICE will still get you something back. But in EV this is not sure. This is the only showstopper.

Or I can retain the 2022 X1 I have and enjoy it for another four+ years and sell it. The only issue with X1 is that it's two and have seater in the rear. I have been using nowadays drivers do drive me around (due to 2 fracture incidents). Nowadays my son who's just 14 but 5.10 is something I didn't anticipate to grow this fast . Prefers to take the front seat. So, it's been a quite cozy in the back with 3 people - myself, wify and the daughter. This is the reason for my plan to upgrade.

For me the X3 looks like a grown X1 while the GLC is more matured and luxurious SUV. Only advantage with X3 is it's BMW DNA when it comes to the driving dynamics and experience. One you're addicted to this it's very difficult to change it to any other car. I get excited when the thought comes of driving X1 especially in the long drives. In all other factors the reviewers appreciate the luxury interiors and the more powerful 300. Our X3 should have been 30 version with v6 as that of US instead of this for one crore car.

I agree. That said, it’s priced at about 15 lakh less on-road compared to the underwhelming 3-cylinder petrol x1. It’s more comfortable, a bit quicker, and has significantly lower running costs. Considering these factors, it does seem to make a strong case for itself, even after accounting for the higher depreciation.

I may be wrong, but In terms of performance and space, it seems to even compare favorably to the brand new petrol X3, at a 45 lakh discount. However, the overall quality and tech would likely be a notch or two lower.

I was given a quotation of 53.5 lakhs (2.5% road tax + insurance + 95k vehicle preparation charges). Can you share the breakup (am not sure about the 95k they are adding here in the name of vehicle preparation)

I was also quoted a Rs. 82,500 charge for logistics and handling, which I felt was pretty steep. Found it hard to justify the cost, since I live in Chennai just a hop away from their factory.

Too bad the 360 degree finance plans are atrociously bad else would have provided some safety against depreciation.

I have only a 360+bullet quote. I'll try to get a quote and share here.

Re: BMW iX1 Long Wheelbase @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

Guys I am new to this thread.

Little background

I am in market looking for car around 50lakh. Till now I had no plans on a BMW because I only want a Electric SUV. Checked out Seal. Amazing car but low GC hence dropped the idea.

Ioniq 5 - Looked good but felt that the battery tech is now old and drive was not that great.
Kia EV 6 - Newer car not in my budget hence dropped it too

Mahindra XEV 9 - Amazing car test drove it too. Booked my preference number. Found it VFM but issue with after sale service and I know for a fact that this will be a common car very soon. This is fast as hell. Endless Features. Just what we Indians want in our car.

Sealion 7 - Booked it too. This car gives the best balance of power, performance, practicality, Quality and Value.

Now the question is should I continue my booking with Sealion 7 or do we have a stronger reason to buy a BMW IX1 specially when 3 months ago my cousin had got its Petrol version ?? Me and my brother are of the opinion that even though we live in 2 different houses but our cars should be different . I know badge value i will not get in Sealion but quality is a notch higher then BMW X1 for sure.

Would like our expert Team BHP guys opinion...

Do let me know

I haven't seen or driven the Seal, but did TD the BMW.

I doubt the BMW would stand a chance against the BYD when it comes to the EV drivetrain, battery technology, performance, and overall tech/features. That said, with the BMW, you're probably paying for a more refined German setup, better fit and finish, and, of course, the brand value.

Could you share why you feel the 360 finance plan is atrociously bad?
From what I understand, with a 11.xx down payment and rest on finance, the 'buyback' value is the bullet amount at the end of the tenure & EMIs until then consist of principal as per ~17/21L (loan amount- buyback value) and interest component of the total loan amount ~40L.

Re: BMW iX1 Long Wheelbase @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

Hi, asking for a friend, what would be the maintenance cost of BMW iX1 LWB EV as against the ICE BMW X1. Friend want to upgrade from XUV500 Diesel and was concerned about the maintenance cost of BMW EV as his neighbor who own BMW or Mercedes pay very high maintenance charges after say 30k km or more. His daily drive is 60km (Gurugram to Connaught place). He is currently spending roughly 15k per annum on maintenance of his XUV500 Diesel AT. He intend to keep the new SUV for 8 to 10 years minimum.

Other plan my friend have is to buy XUV700 AX 7L Petrol AT or Scorpio N Z8L Petrol AT.

Re: BMW iX1 Long Wheelbase @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

I happened to check the iX LWB in the showroom the other day. Rear seat has plenty of leg room because of the extended wheelbase but the seat base is bit short and low which means taller occupants will have to sit in the 'knees up' position.

iX LWB has lower buy back value (~54% at the end of 4 years) as compared to iX1/ X1/ EQA and will cost almost same as them (without considering the buyback amount). In terms of present value we end up paying ~12-13% higher amount in 4 years as compared to not taking the buyback (if we end up buying back the car). Though in terms of safety against high depreciation of EVs in near future its not too bad, so I guess I should remove the word atrocious.

Second that, I was looking at 360 finance as a safety net against the high depreciation of EVs in India. I recently received a marketplace alert on a 2024 Atto 3 ADAS variant (OTR 36.9L), asking dropped from 28L to 27L and listed since 3 months.
