No, this is with single motor in the front. Earlier iX1 came with dual motor with xDrive.

Re: BMW iX1 Long Wheelbase @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

The old pre-facelift ZS EV used to do 0-100 in 8.5 seconds for 25 lakhs on road and was launched in 2020!

5 years later BMW has launched a slower car at double the price and wants to be patted on their back for the effort!

Re: BMW iX1 Long Wheelbase @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

With this pricing, why would someone buy a petrol X1? There was not much reason to buy one earlier as well, but still?

The Ioniq still seems better in specs and price. If the BYD Sealion is placed in the same price range, it will make this a non-starter. I am guessing KIA will also reduce the prices of EV6 to be on par with Ioniq.

The only thing remaining for BMW is badge!!!

The EQA250, which costs more than 70 lakhs on the road, also does 0 to 100 in 8.6 seconds. The iX1 feels VFM compared to the EQA250.

There's a reason why the German's EV transition has been lackluster, except for interior quality these cars feel a couple of generations behind Ev6 or Ioniq 5. The BMW is also just plain ugly too.

Re: BMW iX1 Long Wheelbase @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

We seem to have finally arrived at the point in Indian automobile history, where a luxury EV is cheaper than its ICE counterpart (without even accounting for road tax differences)

This is a huge value offering from BMW and the pricing is very attractive. A diesel X1 would not only be a smaller and slower car but also 30% more expensive after accounting toe road taxes in a state like TN.

Most of the traditional irritants of owning BMWs are taken away, such as hard low profile run-flat tires which keep tearing and bursting (the iX1 has chunky tubeless tires, ride comfort is also possibly much better due to these tires), Limited legroom in the back is not an issue on this BMW, which as oodles of room. It also gets rear sunshades which even the 330Li and M340i do not get, plus the latest iDrive 9 infotainment, set if useful ADAS features (though not the full set).

I only wish BMW had offered a larger 80 KWHr or 100 KWHr battery, even if it means it is optional on a more expensive variant. A 100 KWHr battery would have resulted in a 750KM claimed (600 KM real-life) range, which would be perfect for a day of driving and charging through the night - enabling long multi-day day trips. Also wish they had retained the more powerful 30 spec for the powertrain, as the range doesn't seem to be significantly longer with the detuning of the engine as compared to the regular iX1.

Re: BMW iX1 Long Wheelbase @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

I feel this launch has been a good step from BMW & this car can be an ideal choice for those wanting to start their journey of owning a luxury brand which can be used efficiently as a daily driver & being future proof.

I loved the latest Camry but with BMW at same price point would go with iX1 due to it better snob value, SUV stance, higher GC & lesser length which are helpful in metro cities.

I see that earlier AWD version was very powerful too (and expensive). Any idea if they are trying to clear the stock of the earlier version?

They did clear most of the stocks. I got mine in October, pricing is similar to lwb launched now. I am happy with the car, completed 5000kms yesterday, power is addictive and the offer good range even at highway speeds.

The new one will offer better range, but will take the xdrive one over the new one any day

Re: BMW iX1 Long Wheelbase @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

Good pricing which will make a lot of new BMW converts. Stepping stone in the German luxury universe under 50L. And mind you hardly any opex. In ICE lingo, this is equivalent to a 35L ex-showroom petrol / diesel variant with 15K Kms running every year.

This pricing is going to put pressure on C40 Recharge and EQA surely. Afterall in India people need badge more than power!

This looks like a good value proposition.

Does anyone know if there is any other obvious cost cutting vs. the xDrive iX1, apart from the motor/drivetrain?

Re: BMW iX1 Long Wheelbase @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

The more I see the spec sheet, the more I am amazed by the value of this offering. BMW has gone all out here as they are giving full M Sport trim elements including the M Sport steering, ambient lighting, full pano-sunroof, kick-sensor based tailgate opening, a free home AC charger, 8 airbags, 24X7 roadside assistance for 5 years, the full-fledged iDrive 9 system, adaptive LED headlamps (which were not getting even on the 330Li until they launched the MSport version) and so on.

Spec sheet attached.

The X1 in general is built to cost. The body lines are over-simplified now compared to the previous X1. Look from a distance, and there is none of that distinguished presence that German Luxury cars generally exude. You can tell a current gen X3 or X5 from a long distance, even in low light, as they stand out with their solid presence, well designed cut and creases. From a distance, the new X1 looks like a Hyundai or a Kia. I think this is down to fact the BMW has opted for very few body lines and curves on these newer X cars (including the new X3), to keep upfront as well as ongoing repair costs low. The purposeful bulges, the Dynamic corners and sharp crease lines are all gone. Even the paint quality on the new gen X1s looks mediocre.

I agree that the spec sheet looks fab. Adaptive lighting like Audi Matrix lamps which start from A6 onwards et al.

I was comparing the spec sheet with Ioniq5 and that looks so lack lustre. All other brands will have to sit up and take notice on equipment and pricing.

Indian market can no longer be a dumping ground of half equipment vehicles sold at atrociously ridiculous pricing!

360 degree camera is missing which in my opinion should've been there.

Re: BMW iX1 Long Wheelbase @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

Test drove the new iX1 LWB today. Some observations:

Looks nice in the metal. Has more of a station wagon vibe than a traditional SUV.
Front seats were super comfortable, with excellent bolstering. Definitely a highlight.
Rear Seats have tons of legroom. Although under-thigh support could be better, the cushioning is decent and I found it very comfy overall.
Performance is good - linear and smooth. I didnt find it "push-you-into-the-seat" fast, even in sport mode, but it’s more than adequate for our typical Indian driving conditions
Steering is nice and chunky to hold and decently weighed. Feel/feedback wasn't as good as older ICE BMW's I've driven.
Ride quality was pliant, though slightly on the firmer side. Low-speed comfort was better than I'd expected given the ~2 ton weight weight and length. Nothing to complain about here.
Ground clearance was a bit on the lower side. I didn't brake for a slightly large speed breaker that wasn't clearly marked and the car did scrape. On the return, I slowed down and it was fine.

Overall, the iX1 LWB felt like a reasonably fun, very comfortable, featured loaded car at a decent price point.
