Whoever thought EVs are boring is going to have to eat his / her words! Today's EVs are fast, good handlers and leave same-price ICE cars behind in drag races.

The Ioniq 5 N is widely rated as being one of the most fun to drive EVs, and I absolutely love the soundtrack inside the cabin. I find the Ioniq 5 to be well-priced for what's on offer, and hope the ask for the N variant is fair. Hyundai India is serious about its N cars.

Would an enthusiast buy this or same-price Germans? Perhaps, this car is more fun than the 3-Series (now LWB only) and surely more fun than the FWD A4, and entry-engine C-Class petrol / diesel. Its only real competition will come from the deadly Octavia vRS.

I hope this means there's a possibility of bringing over the Elantra N and the actual i20N!

Some of its credentials:

Ioniq 5N pitted against the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT

https://www.autoguide.com/auto/manuf...bo-gt-44614237

Autocar rates it the Best Drivers Car:

Comparison with the Porsche Taycan (the car that Hyundai benchmarked the 5N against)

Still want that German?

Most of the auto journalists have vouched that this is one model that has got the fake exhaust/engine sounds and transmission shifts right.

So much that, they would keep the sounds ON, unlike other cars where they tend to switch it off.

Since they have stopped i20N for Europe, but is continuing for the international markets, they could.

Of course not going to happen, but Hyundai India could possibly plonk in the 1.5l TGDI already sold in India in other models into the i20 for a hot version.

I would literally pay every penny for a 1.5GDI i20. I hope we can have a competitive hot hatch market again.

From the source I know, Ioniq 5N is not slated for launch anytime soon. The Facelift Ioniq 5 will be launched first, this is already launched in other markets. The facelift will come larger battery and few cosmetic changes as well as software updates.

Facelift also comes with (weirdly implemented) digital displays in place of the side rear view mirrors.

Lamborghini testing the Ioniq 5N:

Benchmarking their EV’s.

Those who have been to the Lamborghini factory would recognise the South Gate.

Hyundai to suspend Ioniq 5, Kona Electric production amid slowing EV demand.

Hyundai Motor Co. has decided to temporarily suspend production of the IONIQ 5 electric vehicle due to the impact of the global EV “chasm,” a temporary slowdown in demand, which is also affecting the domestic market.

Last month, only 75 units were sold. In an internal memo, Hyundai’s Ulsan plant noted, “Performance and backlog orders for the IONIQ 5 are decreasing” and analyzed that “a prolonged downturn in EV demand is expected due to the anti-EV policy stance of the second Trump administration.”

That's quite a rapid effect from the market.

EV Demand is not going to drop to zero. There is still going to be a pool of migrators to EV but the surge may have dropped. All the Automakers came in with gazillion models across all segments making sustenance of a huge line-up of EV's unviable. Perhaps that is why Hyundai, one of the most aggressive of them all, chose to do what they did.
