There's something holding me back - I see multiple instances of battery warranty claims being rejected due to water ingress, that too apparently without any unusual driving situations (as claimed by owner)

Given that I live in Mumbai, bad (read terrible) roads and flooding are two very real threats that every car owner is faced with.

Considering the grey areas in EV insurance / warranty, do we expect to hit roadblocks in future? (within warranty period or otherwise)
For instance - cases of insurance and SC battling it out over prolonged periods of time on how an expensive repair will be covered.

On a different note - If EVs rise as per projections, do we expect waiting queues at charging stations in future?
Protection against water ingress is the main reason to get an EV.

1. Unlike ICE, EV motor and batteries come with IP rating. In Creta's case it is IP67, a pretty robust rating.

2. For the off chance that your car does get damaged due to water, just like in ICE cars you are recommended to get engine protect added to your insurance, in EVs you need to get battery protect added. Standard comprehensive insurance covers your battery in accidental damage cases, with battery protect even non accidental damage like water ingress is covered.

On queues at EV charging stations. In any two sided market, the toughest part to crack is the initial adoption phase where you go through a chicken and egg problem. With EVs, people were hesitant to buy them due to lack of charging infra. Investors were not willing to build charging stations because there were no EVs on the road to use them. This is likely to happen with any fuel type. But we have long crossed that phase now due to the following:

1. Govt has completely delicensed this sector. You can setup an public EV charging station at even your house as long as you have adequate electricity supply. This reduces entry barriers.

2. Extremely high gross margins. With upto 80% gross margins on EV charging, it's highly lucrative which is resulting in a lot of investors getting in.

This is theory, in reality these facts reflect on the ground. In the last 2 years, DC charging infra has grown 10x while number of cars on the road has only gone up by 2x as per EVInfra.BI.

Two years back my trip from Bangalore to Chennai were dependent on just 2 chargers near Vellore. If the two of them went down, there literally was no way for me to reach my destination. Today in Vellore we have roughly 20 EV chargers. If you consider the entire stretch there are more than 100 chargers. During peak Diwali traffic at the end of a 3 day weekend, I found plenty of charging stations avaliable to charge and had absolutely no problems with charging.

Now all of this is dependent on the govt continuing to not interfere in this sector. Stuff like price caps or heavy regulation can significantly change the course of this industry.

Re: 2025 Hyundai Creta Electric Review

Recently added 2 accessories to my vehicle; Sports pedal cover and Hyundai Mobis dashcam with dual channel support and is hardwired into the car.

Total cost for dashcam is 14k, while the sports pedal cover costed me 2k.

Sporty pedal cover. (please ignore the dirty mat )

Hyundai Mobis MH7 dashcam. Dealership did a very good job on the installation. Quality is okay for daytime running, yet to do a night recording though. Also need to check if it's possible to install a CPL filter.

Do I see leather wrapped steering? Brochure seems to say otherwise. Please do share more pics of the interiors. Executive variant has eluded Youtubers so far.
Steering is leather wrapped. The brochure has got some wrong info.

Even i remember some mistakes eg, The active air dam is present, I-pedal is present. Storage below the armrest is cooled.

This is a pretty loaded variant which has all the basic necessities. On the outside, only way to recognise is the missing roof rails.

Inside, you'll find hard plastics all around. Only that way you realise that its the base variant. The seats are fabric and the cushioning is top notch.

Was the cable for rear dashcam run from the sides of roof around A,B,C pillars?

Congrats on your purchase! One doubt, how does rear of Executive variant look like? I dont see any reviews of Creta EV Executive (Base) variant on Youtube, so it would help if you could send an image.

Asking because the brochure said it has halogen taillamps. Also what other diesel cars do you have in your garage?

Sorry, don't have a picture now. Only the indicator in the rear is a halogen bulb. The tail lamp and connecting line is the same LED setup.

We have a Jetta TDI DSG and Scross DDIS.

Good to know. The regular Creta doesnt get that a LED-Halogen combo. Its either full halogen or full LED.
Please send a picture at your leisure, its just that there arent any reviews of the Executive variant, and the ones that claim to be are actually other ones.

Re: 2025 Hyundai Creta Electric Review

Finally took delivery of my Creta electric Excellence LR in matte grey color. I have only driven it for only 100 KMs till now, so it's too early to comment. The whole sales process and delivery went smoothly, and I did not face any issues till now.

Will post a longer review of the car and the selection process once I have driven it for a few thousand kms.

I was not present during the installation, so I can't comment about that.

But it does look like they did it from the sides.

Attached a pic of the rear camera for your reference.

Re: 2025 Hyundai Creta Electric Review

Zeon has released the charging graph for Creta EV. They have charged the car from 1% to 100% on 60 KW DC charger.

A few observations
1. Peak charging speed is 46KW which pretty dismal for a 51.4 KWh car in today's context. Hyundai should expedite the charging speed upgrade which they promised at launch.
2. The charging starts slower and only reaches peak charging speed at 73%. So if you want a quick topup from lower SoC it is going to take longer as compared to doing it from a higher SoC.

To add some more perspective adding charging curve for Hyundai Kona as well. Kona with 39.2 KWh battery back has a faster charging speed overall and faster initial charging speed as well

Am surprised and disappointed. Correct me if I am wrong but Kona allows fast charging at > 1 C peak correct ?

True. Creta EV has the worst fast charging abilities of any relevant electric car in the market today. Just not good enough, and a clear step down from the old Kona.

Creta's charging curve is very similar to Kona's. Kona does not have a faster initial speed, as per the shared images. Creta started from 1% SOC with 36KW speed, while Kona started from ~12% at 38KW SOC, as expected. At 12% SOC, Creta also has the same ~38KW speed.

It was OK for Kona when it launched in 2019, but to use the same old technology in the 2025 car is a shame. Hyundai is just using Kona technology from 2018 in a Creta shell. Hyundai is indifferent to the Indian market, while Tata is incompetent. The biggest achievement by Mahindra in developing the BE 6 and XEV9e is the technology leap that it took in a single generation instead of multiple iterations over many years. They choose the best available technology in the market, whether it's motor power, battery capacities, or charging speeds. Mahindra EVs can compete with Hyundai's 800V technology vehicles like the Ioniq 5 in all these aspects with pricing similar to Creta EV.
