To close that 'gap' in energy density, manganese is being added to cathodes of LFP batteries creating a LMFP chemistry. While this improves the energy density, since the operating voltage increases (by around 0.3-0.5V) when compared to standard LFP, you get less cycle life and higher degradation when stored high SOC levels (because of the higher operating voltage).

It will be better than NMC as it will be cheaper and safer but NMC will remain king for energy density and accurate SOC predictions.

Here’s how the Hyundai Creta Electric stacks up against rivals like the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV and Mahindra BE 6 on the price graph.

Re: 2025 Hyundai Creta Electric Review

I test drove this car today. The current car this will replace is the jeep compass. The other car I am considering is either of the Mahindra twins.

Pros:
1) Classy conservative-ish looks
2) Buttons felt good to touch.
3) Pick up is effortless and quite nice.
4) Rear seat is quite spacious. Way more spacious than the be 6, less spacious than the xev9e.
5) Not a lot of soft touch materials but nothing felt particularly cheap either.
6) The screens were extremely responsive and felt pleasant to use (unlike in the Mahindras).
7) Crystal clear parking cameras.
8) Speakers were quite nice. Maybe not as nice as in the Mahindra but it's good enough for me and I imagine for 99% of people. The system is clear and I felt it had sufficient bass.

Cons:
1) Central armrest not adjustable.
2) Very clear wind noise 90kpmh onwards. In the atto 3 I noticed this around 120, in the jeep I get this noise at 150+. In the audi a4 we have I haven't gotten this kind of wind noise so far. Haven't driven the be6e/xev9e on a highway so can't compare.
3) Car looks (and is) a little small.

Hyundai Creta EV helps the group to achieve its highest volumes in the brand Creta!

BTW, he is replacing his 2018 Celerio AMT with Creta EV.

As soon as he heard that Creta EV is releasing, he saw it, TD'ed and booked it right away as he loves Creta so much that he booked one before in Diesel AT guise in 2021 but due to personal reasons, he couldn't lay one on his hands and instead bought MG Hector CVT stretching the budget in 2022.

I feel we too might end up buying a Creta EV, mostly this year, as dad is keen on getting one as second car and he felt Creta is the best choice according to him due to being proven despite its shortcomings.
Finally, he got his Creta EV 51.4 kw delivered yesterday in White colour and sent me a pic of his car after getting home.

And, this will be his second EV now in the garage as his first EV is a ZS EV, which is being used by his dad and my friend himself will be using the Creta EV as daily driver over the Hector as it is a fuel guzzler and pinching his pockets a lot.

Crazy how Hyundai showcased and launched the car in January and have already started deliveries while Mahindra showcased and 'launched' their cars 3 months ago and are still nowhere close to starting deliveries.

I casually enquired about Creta Electric on company lease with 2 different dealerships. Both of them indicated some ready stocks are available for top end Excellence variant and one of them told they have made 4-5 deliveries already so far. Other variants have wait time of about a month as per the dealerships.

It looks like Hyundai already manufactured some top end variants and have dispatched them to dealerships in January.

I will still give due credit to Hyundai as Creta Electric was not seen a lot in testing phase while we have seen Mahindra BEVs for more than 2 years under testing and Hyundai has already started deliveries.

14th February is not far away when Mahindra BEV bookings open. The hype created with 26th November launch is slowly fading away for me just like it did for Thar Roxx. Mahindra may lose some customers already to Hyundai if they keep elongate BEV pricing any longer.

Well Hyundai doesn't need to do much testing because their batteries, BMS and software are mature solutions which have been 'battle tested' in the EVs that they have been selling abroad. It is the single biggest advantage they have over Mahindra and that is why the Creta EV will sell well even though it loses to the BEs on paper. Also helps that pack 1 and pack 2 which directly compete against the Creta are nowhere near being properly launched.

Re: 2025 Hyundai Creta Electric Review

So I took a test drive of the Creta EV (51 Kw) yesterday and here are my first impressions:-

- The car feels premium from the inside and there are no 'rough edges' anywhere. It's a well finished car, both inside and outside.

- The additional weight of the battery (200 kgs) makes it a heavy car indeed and one can feel the weight at slower speeds and while turning or changing lanes.

- The signature colour (Ocean Blue) looks meh and doesn't stand out at all, especially in the Matte finish.
Prospective buyers don't have much of a choice in this regard and Hyundai should have offered better colour palette.

- The suspension is stiff, no two ways about it, although you may eventually get accustomed to this. It's not bone jarring for sure but definitely stiffer than what most would like.

- The car picks up speed effortlessly and is a breeze to drive in the city. The 'i - pedal' feature actually enables you to use the brakes sparingly, but if you get used to this feature, you may endanger yourself if you drive some other 'normal' car !

- Overall if you are inclined to buy the Creta EV, you won't be going wrong on any parameters. It's a premium product and will give you peace of mind ownership for a long time.

Prepared this for Creta Electric vs BE6 similarly priced variants. Hope helps for prospective buyers. Let me know if I missed any spec for either of the cars.

Great comparison, and a real eye opener. I suspect if you do the same to the yet to be released E-Vitara with the BE6 the disparity will be even more jarring.

However, it remains to be seen how important brand value is to us Indians.

Re: 2025 Hyundai Creta Electric Review

The battery hanging below the car is an eyesore. It doesn't look well-made nor protected properly. Was the ground clearance of 200mm after taking the battery into account? Doesn't seem so.

Re: 2025 Hyundai Creta Electric Review

Test drove Creta EV. Like the power which pushes you back to the seat, with 5 adults in the car, it was more than adequate power. Just wondering how XEV 6E would be. The Creta N line has 160hp, this one has 170hp.

Battery pack is atleast 40mm below the body, not sure how it has GC of 200mm.

Seating has slight knee up position, should not be a problem for trips below 300km, I can compromise on this.

The sales executive said he already have some cars in stock, which can be delivered immediately if the order matches with the stock or 4-6weeks of delivery timeline.
