Mercedes-Benz to launch 5-seater EQS 450 SUV on January 9th 2025.

- Mercedes EQS 580 SUV and Maybach EQS 680 SUV were launched in September 2024.
- The EQS 450 shares its 122kWh battery with the Maybach EQS 680.
- Current EQS 580 has a range of 809km.

Battery specs:
It will be powered by the same 122kWh battery pack used in the 7-seater EQS 580 4MATIC SUV producing 544bhp of power and 858Nm of torque. This is by far the country’s largest claimed cell capacity for any passenger EV. The battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in 31 minutes using a 200kW DC charger.

Mercedes launches 5-seater EQS 450 EV at Rs 1.28 crore

Mercedes-Benz has launched a new variant of the EQS electric SUV. Priced at Rs 1.28 crore, the EQS 450 slots below the EQS 580. It will be showcased at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Expo.



The EQS 450 features a blanked-off grille with a gloss black panel, dual LED headlamps with an LED light bar, retractable door handles, and connected wraparound taillights.

Unlike the EQS 580, the new variant is a 5-seater. However, in terms of features, it is similarly equipped. The SUV has the 56-inch Hyperscreen, featuring a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 17.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a third display on the passenger side. It also gets soft-close doors, a 15-speaker Burmester audio system, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS.



The EQS 450 is offered with a 122 kWh battery pack, which powers two electric motors generating 355 BHP and 800 Nm. Mercedes claims a 0-100 km/h time of 6.1 seconds.

The EQS 450 can cover 820 km on a single charge (MIDC). The battery can be charged from 10 to 80% in 31 minutes using a 200 kW DC charger, while a standard wall box charger takes 6.2 hours.

Probably the best VFM car in its Indian portfolio, especially in road tax exempt states. Extrapolating from the EQS 580 SUV reviews, but this one tackles range anxiety, GC, decent rear seat, has good interiors, and a balanced suspension. Probably the most well rounded of all Mercedes products in India.

Synonyms like Goldilocks zone, sweet spot, Mercedes etc. spring to mind

If only they could have launched with this model from the EQS range, it would have led the charge having the added allure of an all new product, instead of the baggage of an overpriced launch followed by price rationalisation (notwithstanding belated localization).
