Now that you mention it, it totally looks like a Altroz SUV. and I can't unsee it.

Absolutely hate the new trend of increasing black cladding area and decreasing painted area. Such a sore sight to eyes.

Re: Toyota Urban Cruiser EV based on Maruti e Vitara revealed

With the price / performance of the announced Mahindra BE6 and XEV9OO, Maruyota really needs to price this well.

Anything above 15L ex-showroom for the base model, and it'll be DOA (there should be at least a 3-4 lakh gap between this base model, and the base model BE6).

The Urban Cruiser EV seems to have been inspired by the Honda City eHEV. Looks astonishingly horrible!

Re: Toyota Urban Cruiser EV based on Maruti e Vitara revealed

When Toyota dreamt of giving the Vitara a Honda-esque front, behold we have the UV E-Vitara! That front headlamp setup instantly reminds you of the Honda City. I first got excited thinking this could be the Electric Elevate!

Re: Toyota Urban Cruiser EV based on Maruti e Vitara revealed

Oh my! This Toyota looks hideous!! I've been a Toyota fan since years but what in the world is this stupid design? The rear is near identical, so is the dashboard but the front looks awful damnit. I'd even prefer Verna's front over this

MG will be eagerly waiting for the Indian launch. Once the e-Vitara is launched they'll launch the 50 kWh version of the Windsor at a much lower price.

I foresee the Japanese and Koreans having to fight a tough price battle with the Chinese and Indians.

Re: Toyota Urban Cruiser EV based on Maruti e Vitara revealed

This is the only car in Toyota's line-up that looks aweful with their new hammerhead design language.

It has the same door handles as my 2015 Swift, and the usual parts bin design. They didn't even bother changing the wheels between the two. (wheelcaps?). This is going to mean a terrific pricing. Lower than the Grand Vitara Hybrid?

I thought that I have seen the front design somewhere but just could not recollect where.

The front look does not follow any of current Toyota's design language. Looking at recent designs of cars, it feels like companies are not spending more on car designs now and probably jumping on AI bandwagon to render new designs.

The front is copy of Honda City. The rear profile looks very close to existing Sonet.

All-New TOYOTA URBAN CRUISER makes first appearance at the BRUSSELS MOTOR SHOW.

- Toyota’s authentic, all-electric SUV presented in public for the first time in Europe
- New model to be rolled out in Europe from late summer 2025
- Range offers wide customer choice with two battery pack power options, plus front and all-wheel drive versions.
- Pre-ordering for the new model has opened in initial markets, with first customer deliveries expected from late summer.
-In terms of size, the Urban Cruiser’s external dimensions are slightly greater than the Yaris Cross and a tight, 5.2 m turning radius makes for nimble manoeuvring on urban streets
-Inside, thanks to a long, 2,700 mm wheelbase and a flexible, sliding rear seat arrangement, interior space is remarkably generous: rear seat leg room can be extended to rival that found in a D-segment model.
- Premium quality equipment features will be available, including a 360-degree camera, JBL sound system and power driver’s seat adjustment. A fixed sunroof will also be offered.
-. By making a reservation, you will be at the front of the queue when the car booking opens in the spring of 2025. ( for select markets)

Quote:
A 49-kWh battery with an output of 106 kW / 144 DIN hp will be offered exclusively with front-wheel drive while a 61-kWh battery will be available in both front and all-wheel drive Urban Cruiser versions. In FWD format the 61-kWh battery will produce 128 kW / 174 DIN hp; in the AWD model, the power is slightly greater at 135 kW / 184 DIN hp.

The AWD model uses an additional 48 kW motor on the rear axle and is equipped with Downhill Assist Control, as well as Trail and Snow modes for extra assistance in slippery conditions.

For safety it includes multiple airbags, a 360-degree camera and ADAS.
Gets similar 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery options with both FWD and AWD config internationally.
The cabin is similar to the Maruti e Vitara but with a different black/grey decor.
- Launching in the second half of 2025

Re: Toyota Urban Cruiser EV based on Maruti e Vitara revealed

I like design of Toyota Urban Cruiser EV more than the Maruti E-Vitara. Toyota looks more clean and conventional than the Maruti, especially the front. There is too much design elements in Maruti especially the lower bumper section, whereas Toyota is very neat and simple. Also the all black interior of Toyota looks smart than the colorful Maruti interior.

This is just my opinion.

Toyota Urban BEV Concept @ Bharat Mobility Expo 2025

Big shoutout to .anshuman for shooting these pictures & his coverage of the Bharat Mobility Expo. Thanks for sharing, man!

While Maruti Suzuki has unveiled the e-Vitara (Maruti e-Vitara @ Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025), based on the eVX Concept, Toyota displayed its version of the car.

The Urban BEV Concept previews the upcoming electric vehicle. While Toyota has not confirmed the India launch timelines, we can expect the car to go on sale in the later part of 2025. It is excepted to the manufactured at Maruti's Gujarat facility:

Compared to the e-Vitara, the Toyota version comes with lesser black body cladding bits, especially at the font:

The wheels are positioned on the ends of the car to maximise the available cabin space as well as to accommodate the floor-mounted battery pack:

The rear 3/4th view reveals large flared wheel arches that extend quite a bit into the C-pillar area. Also note the C-pillar mounted door handles on the rear doors:

The rear gets a Toyota logo and no other badging. This concept gets clear-lens tail lamps, which might not make its way into the production-spec variant:

Why is the Urban BEV a concept and the e-Vitara a production-ready model when the two look so similar?

They are pretty much identical from the side. Even their rear ends are the same, except for the design of the tail lights.

At the front, the Urban BEV strongly reminds me of a Honda (Civic, maybe)
