The MG Cyberster is a two-door convertible inspired by the MG B Roadster from the 1960s. It features a sleek design with butterfly doors. The company claims it to be an affordable sportscar.

The MG Cyberster is available with two battery options. The base variant is powered by a rear-mounted electric motor producing 304 BHP. It is paired with a 64 kWh battery pack offering a range of 520 km.

The Cyberster also comes in a dual-motor AWD variant with 537 BHP. It is powered by a 77 kWh battery offering a range of 580 km (CLTC cycle). MG claims this version can sprint from 0-100 km/h in 3.2 seconds.

The carmaker plans to set up 12 MG Select showrooms across 12 Indian cities, with four premium car launches slated by 2026.

Have to give it to MG for taking the bold decision to launch this in India.
What a good looking car. Love the design language.

MG Cyberster launch confirmed for January 2025

Upon launch, it could be targeted towards the BYD Seal and Kia EV6

JSW MG Motors India recently announced their premium offering showroom in India, to be called "MG Select" retail channel.

According to multiple sources, MG is gearing up to launch its first product in the Select portfolio-> The MG Cyberster. The vehicle is built on a born electric platform and the dimensions are similar to that of a C segment sedan (Honda City etc.)

The car will come to India as a full export, however, the battery pack being considered for India is currently under wraps and we shall find that out soon. Upon launch, the Cyberster could be priced around 50-60 Lakh rupees (Ex-Showroom, India) which targets the likes of EV6 and BYD Seal.

Re: MG Cyberster electric sportscar India launch in January 2025

Oh I love this car. I love convertibles. Wonder someday if I might seriously buy it if it is priced nicely.

Only worry is our roads and overall day to day operating conditions.

It’s really lovely and the heart strings are being rapidly tugged as we speak.

Coincidentally even Iain Tyrrell in his last night’s video upload of Tyrrell’s Classic Workshop, seems smitten by the Cyberster. (17.39 in the video)

So if someone like him can be smitten then why can’t I too be?

Of course, to acquire this I shall have to let go of two of my present steeds but then, let it first get launched!

The Design is timeless. Any news on the price and how it would work for the Indian scenario as MG is conceived as a middle/budget brand?

You answered the question yourself . Launching an electric sportscar is purely a branding exercise. MG knows the sales will be minuscule, but a lot of love from this car will rub off on its brand-name in India. Will also add a lot of pizzazz to the showrooms its parked in. The Cyberster is a "halo product".

Maybe that is why they are planning to launch a new style of showrooms a la Nexa type.

Re: MG Cyberster electric sportscar India launch in January 2025

Looking forward to this. Sincerely hope that it's priced right. Sub 50 for the single motor variant and additional 10% for the top would be ideal. Any information about the select showroom locations?

Received a video message via the messaging system from MG Motor India. The same one is there on youtube.

They certainly seem to be making all the right efforts in awareness creation and marketing.

If this AWD one comes in at 60 odd lacs it will be really good.

But lets wait and see.

Re: MG Cyberster electric sportscar India launch in January 2025

I have my biases towards EVs but I honestly don't mind having an EV as a beater car.

With that settled, I do feel an EV sports car is like watching a blockbuster movie without any sound! An exhaust note has a crucial role in the whole sports car driving experience. People go to great lengths to improve, what in most cases, is already an obnoxiously (read beautifully) loud factory exhaust. The cold morning start of a V8 or when the engine throws pops and crackles in sports mode gives the thrill of driving a sports car.

While the steer pull of an EV sports can be exhilarating, it will only be, at best, ~66% of the whole sports car driving experience; Weighted out at 33% looks, 33% sound, 33% power and 1% if you managed to buy a sports car before hitting 50

People will go checkout the Cyberster in the showroom and then book the Comet

Windsor brought a lot of footfalls for the dealers and now Cyberster will create a Halo Effect. MG shall leverage their marketing techniques and price the Cyberster lesser than Seal with BaaS.

I read somewhere on Team-BHP, unfortunately cannot give them credit as I do not remember their name, the next generation of car drivers will equate wanting an EV to make noise to our generation wanting an ICE to make horse whinnies.
