Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

The numbers in the quoted post may not be entirely correct.

My nearby shell recharge seems to cost 24Rs/kW @120kW DC fast charging.
The Jio BP 60kW fast charger at my office seems to cost 20Rs/kW.

Also, from what I know, 60kW takes about 80-90 minutes for a full charge with the 79kW battery. So I don't think it can do 20-90 % in 25 minutes.

I would like to understand, if your EV support 100+ kW fast charger but the cost of fast charging on a highway is as under, what would you prefer:

25kW fast charger - Rs.18 per kWh (20% to 90% in 1 hour)
50kW/60kW fast charger - Rs.25 per kWh (20% to 90% in 30 minutes)
75kW fast charger - Rs. 35 per kWh (20% to 90% in 25 minutes)
125kW fast charer - Rs. 50 per kWh (20% to 90% in 15 minutes)

I think 150kWh fast charging on an EV is over hyped and we may never need to charge such high speed on a highway. A 50kWh / 60kWh at a reasonable cost is more than sufficient for 99.99% of EV users. We always need to have atleast 30 minutes break every 200 / 250km, if travelling with family. A solo driver can drive 500 to 600km with maximum 10 minutes break once or twice, but that is not normal.
The charges mentioned here are too high.
Attaching the image to show the prices near my home.
Even a 150KWh charger costs 24/unit

Is it normal, for Mahindra, to deliver this level of circular scratches on a new car?

https://imgur.com/a/iylb51u

I know these happen in just a few weeks anyway but this seems a bit much.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

Mahindra Powerol has provided a bolt from the blue. Have received an estimate of Rs.1,00,288 for charger installation.
Cable laying charges: 120mtr x Rs.697 = Rs.83,640
MCB Installation with Box = Rs.1,350
Earthing Installation Copper Plate = Rs.5,600
Earthing Cable = Rs.130
+ GST

1st error = calculated as per 11kw against my booking of 7.4kw.

2nd error = Since i live on the 15th floor as per basic math calculation 15 x 3.5 mtr per floor = 52.5 mtrs.
Additional cable requirement on higher side for routing in parking area = 10 mtrs
Total = 62.5mtrs
Estimate from them 135 mtrs [15 mtrs free + 120 mtrs chargeable]

3rd error = cable price charged is almost double of the market price.

When i contacted their estimate engineer who had visited my apartment, he tried his best to assure me everything was in order and i should make the payment as per the estimate. He could offer little explanation for the basic math per floor calculation done by me and simply said that's not how its done. I partially agree to that and maybe i am wrong but requiring double the cable is absolutely absurd in my opinion and it is pretty clear im being taken for a ride.

Wonder if this is another money making scheme by Mahindra or just an one off experience.

Showroom rep simply shifted blame to third party agency. However, i have refused to accept this estimate and insisted on a fresh survey.

Request all to kindly re-check the estimate before making any payment to them. Also, it would be helpful if anybody could share the estimate received by them for 7.4kw charger wherein there was additional cable required.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

Charger and it's installation is becoming a big headache. I think penetration of EV vehicle in India will be slow due to these issues. For me even to increase load Bescom is just not helpful and sure enough wants to mint money. If one has to spend huge amount and time on charger and other things needed to make it work, it is another big disadvantage compared to a ICE vehicle.

Absolute beast on the Road!

Got my BE6 delivered yesterday from Pune. Delivery process was a breeze.(took more time than usual as it was Gudi Padwa and lots of deliveries were carried simultaneously)

Drove around 250 kms to my hometown. Driving this car is fun altogether but some ADAS features needs time get a hold of things.

Air conditioner and Parking (front and back) on the key fob not working. Will contact the dealer about it.

P.S.: The car looks elegant and sporty in the Desert Myst finish.

Cheers mate! Congratulations on the ride.

As for the remote cooling, yeah it's not working yet.

But the park in/out feature does work, as I understand from our whatsapp group..

Some gentleman tried it out. The way to do is press lock. Then press and hold the AC button on the fob until the mirrors pop out. Once they do, you can use the front/back button to move it.

I haven't tried this out yet, but a few folks have and they report it works.

I will never charge within the city unless its urgent as I have a home charger installed. Furthermore, If my home is not capable of getting a charger installed, I would not even buy an EV, cause then the cost of running is very close to ICE Cars.

This leads to a very less stoppage time in the city and facilitates quick turnaround time.

If all chargers in the city as high kilowatt fast chargers, EV owners will prefer home chargers and only do small top-ups at the stations to avoid high billing.

I've been using DC chargers for almost a couple of years now.
Never have i been charged more than Rupees 27 including GST.
The rates quoted above are far too high and incorrect.
I've been using zeon, BP, statiq, jio, shell extensively.
Statiq being the least expensive.

Yes very normal I’d say. I received a car which had a ripple dent and a few scratches. Today I noticed the passenger side sun visor/mirror is also a little dirty as it’s beige. The interior cleaning too wasn’t very good for the price I’d say. Cars costing 33L + should have a separate premium showroom. I have got the 9E.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

Having a really bad experience with my buy. Pre booked it in January. First they allocated a white car which I initially booked and changed to red later. They didn't update their internal system and allocated a wrong car. Had to wait for 2 weeks to get a red car allocated. Paid entire amount on 26th as they said they will try to deliver it on 27th. They didn't. I asked for 30th and they said they will give it for sure by yesterday. Confirmed again with them for delivery on 29th and went to showroom with family to take the car. They kept on giving different reasons to delay the delivery. First they said they have one more update and it will take time. Then they said they have to get approval for delivery from some team and that's the reason for delay. I said I need the car delivered as promised since it's an auspicious day for us and we want to take it yesterday itself, they assigned a driver saying we can go to temple in the car and come back with their driver driving it since it's not officially given to us yet and they cannot allow me to drive as its not yet officially delivered. We tried to be understanding and went ahead with what they suggested. Didn't get to drive. Returned the car back. Expected the car today but they kept saying they didn't finish off the TR and will give it as soon as it's done. Now they are saying they will give it tomorrow morning.

I freaking don't know what's the problem for them for denying the delivery and what to even believe as they are giving different reasons everytime. Ive seen them deliver other BE6 and XEV 9Es to others. Not sure what's wrong with my car alone.

Entire excitement of getting the car delivered is ruined now. My parents who travelled from far to hyderabad for our car delivery have to go back tomorrow without getting anything. Super frustrated.

Things can happen and it can get delayed but there should be some transparency and they should give us the exact reason they are having issues in delivering the car. I cannot make my family travel and wait for something that might or might not happen and ruin our days hoping and anticipating that they will give the car today or tomorrow or the next and so forth based on false promises.

Congrats on the car mate! Same, Gudi Padwa delivery this side. By the way, are your carpet lights working?

Those efficiency numbers are pretty promising. Even if just 70 kWh is usable, that should translate to 500+ km of range. Plenty for highway cruising.

Also the car just looks so racy and sporty - absolutely gorgeous. Somehow don't feel that people will get bored of its looks.

Sorry to hear about your experience mate. In my case, I've got the car delivered with a temp number. So I have it but can't do much with it (and can neither submit it for TPU as they might call for RTO Passing any day).

I hope you get the car soon.

I am facing the same. There is no clarity on this for me either. Had the car honking at 12:30am last night when I tried it.

I'm hearing similar things for my car, delaying by 2 days at a time for the past 3 weeks. I've tried my best to not get frustrated, but its getting to me too.

Mahindra has this tendency of not coming out clean, they want their deliveries and cars to speak for themselves, but they screw up that very thing.

The good part is that I haven't paid anything and will not till they attempt a full blown delivery.
