Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

Checked out the BE6 today. The car is super fast and futuristic! Decent suspension dynamics. Steering was super light and the flat bottom+top was a bit weird in the beginning, but got used to it.

The 2 displays were crisp and of good quality I felt. My eyes had bit of a hard time focusing on the HUD clearly. Did not have the same issue in the BMW HUDs. But it is pretty nicely implemented. It showed speed breaker icon when we went near one! Wondering if its based on the GPS data or the sensors! Sound system was awesome! Youtube and other apps load up quickly and general usability is pretty good.

Few negative points. The car was filled with hard plastics. The wireless charging place was hard. Phone kept wobbling and making a lot of noise as you drive. Back seat space was limited i felt. The overall its pretty hight inside and bit of a climb to get into it.

One big bummer, in bangalore atleast, is that its above 25l for the pack 3 (top end) and that kicks in 10% road tax! (<25l there is no road tax) That takes the cost of the vehicle to upwards of 32l.

Sales rep was pretty bullish about the availability and was saying we can get the car in a month of booking! What happened to the greater than a year worth of booking?!

I don't think the Pack 3 will anyway command a huge wait period, the real value for money are the Pack 1 and Pack 2. Hopefully, positive word of mouth Will help these cars sail through

Not at all true. I don't know about the current case, but I have the same choice as yours and my car is sitting in the dealership yard for days.

Why do dealerships say things like these? 6 of the 8 colours are gloss, i don't think Mahindra would stop billing 75% of the colours.

As far as I recall, Mahindra claims to have used recycled materials (Mahindra BE 6 Review) to promote sustainability.
That could be the reason behind the hard plastics.
I found the charging pad OK. The height and ingress/egress will take a bit of getting used to.

That is preposterous!!! Does it apply to EVs as well? Here in MAH EVs pretty don't attract much of a registration charge. So ex showroom 27.65 translates to 29.4 on road.

That is interesting! I guess they have ramped up production? And Pack 3 might not have a lot of demand, especially for the BE6. I believe the 9e garnered far more attention than the BE6.

It's quite a bummer. Unsure what's going on.

Also, does anybody have an idea whether the warranty would be 15 years for companies as well as per one of the M&M announcements reported by a user on Telegram?

Well shucks.

The govt is very prematurely gutting the Ev incentives. First the fame subsidies, now this. The only silver lining Is that 6% is quite ok compared to what we pay for ICE vehicles.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

Ahhhhhhhh the delivery process has just taken 5 days so far but to me it's feeling like ages.

I got an allotment confirmation on Tuesday. I completed all the finances by Thursday. Friday was a holiday here so unfortunately that took a day out. And that brings us to Monday. Feels weird that finances took only like 2 days to sort, and the rest of the process is taking a whole week.

Apparently all cars have to receive an update before delivery, for which they're taking the cars (10 at a time) from the stockyard to the plant and back.

My SA is not sure if my particular car has been updated or not. And this is kind of an issue. She suggested I talk to the manager in Mahindra who is supervising these things, and get a confirmation from him. Apparently they don't even have the keys to the vehicle until the updates are complete.

She's assured me that insurance and internal filings are almost done by now. But I'm getting antsy.

I have a couple of things lined up over next weekend and the week after that, so I need to get this thing delivered on the first day of deliveries i.e. 20th.

MSEDCL is gonna take it's sweet time to install the meter, so I can't count on having the charger installed anyway. Thankfully there's a Shell 120kW DC fast charger just 5 minutes from my home, and a 60kW charger at my office parking.

EDIT: Talked to the manager guy. My car has not yet been updated. :(
I've requested him to help me out in this situation. I am pretty stuck at the moment because I exchanged my car and so no longer have a car at hand.
And the traffic in my office area is bad enough that cabbies outright ignore rides to the area at times. So I badly need a car.

Would you mind sharing how the allotment was done? Did they share details like VIN, or chassis number? And did it come via email directly from M&M? Or did you have to pester the dealer?

I'm still waiting for any allotment - its late, especially since I made sure to submit the booking on the morning of 14 Feb itself- soon as bookings started.

I didn't think the process would be so opaque. That leaves a lot of room for manipulation.

Also - it sounds quite strange that they would need to send the car back to the plant for a software update. Why would the update not just happen over the air as its designed?

You will have to pester the dealer for the VIN, chassis and engine/ battery no.

Did you book it yourself? If yes, then even more pestering is required as dealers give more priority to PDCs.

As for sending the car back to the plant, I think that is happening with OP's case because he lives in Pune. As for those who live far away, it will happen at your service centre. The updates after this one would happen over the air.

Yup. I have been pestering my SA pretty much non-stop since the day she confirmed that I'd been allotted a vehicle.
They haven't shared chassis number yet. I will get it tomorrow most likely, since I am in the final stages of the process.

Correct, I live in Pune so they're doing this stuff at the Chakan plant.

My case is a mix of both booking methods.

I had originally created an "interested" entry from the website. I then gave my showroom a post-dated cheque for the booking amount.
However, my previous "interest" didn't allow them to book the car from their end, since it would show that the number was already in their database. So I ended up booking it myself.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

What kind of specs does an extension cord need for the 3.3Kv charging?

Any recommended products on amazon that people have used for other EVs and had good results?

We could also build one ourselves with a heavy duty cable and an outdoor socket but I dont know if there is any disadvantage to that. For eg https://www.amazon.in/dp/B0CJF939LC/

Are there any pics of the plug that comes with the BE 6 ?

Thank you for sharing the socket link. It should be really helpful for those who need to extend the power supply to their parking.

I recently completed my power extension from the 2nd floor to my basement parking. My apartment management advised not to take the connection from the EB Box(Though I have a separate 3 phase line) since it is interconnected with other houses and had to cut the power for all the house for installation, so I was recommended to draw a power line directly from my home on the 2nd floor. I opted to take the connection from my air conditioning socket, which is a heavy-duty line, and used a three phase 40 amps cable(12 meters) to handle the load safely.

Additionally, I installed a 40 amps MCB as a precautionary measure to prevent short circuits, considering the frequent voltage fluctuations in my house. While it may not have been necessary, I wanted to be extra cautious to ensure my car remains unaffected. The total cost, including labor, was approximately ₹2500, and the installation took around two hours.

After reviewing the socket option you shared, I plan to purchase it and get my electrician to install it soon.

Note : I will be using 3.3 KW for my car and opted out the charger and settled the problem once and for all stating the inability to install 7/11 KW charger.

Thanks again for the helpful information!

You can check the below forum thread. The owner of this thread owns an IONIQ 5 and he built his own extension cord.
https://www.team-bhp.com/news/15000-...ence-living-ev
I was going through others experiences to find out about extension cords and this helped me in deciding to build my own extension cord since the ready made options that are sold are either costly or they felt not up to mark.

One ready made option i found was from amazon. There are videos in YouTube about it but i didn't find anyone sharing their experiences in teamBHP or outside for this. So its your call.
https://amzn.in/d/95RiOlc

Edit: I noticed that you are looking for an extension to a wall socket actually and not a portable extension cord. Still i guess the teamBHP forum link will be useful for you.
