If true, that's a bummer, given the rest of the tech package provided in these cars. I had noticed in one of the reviews, that it does have a feature to close any open windows when you lock it (BTW, windsor also have this option in settings). That is so convenient. In my old cars, I had added it by installing humble relays to do the job along with security systems, which costed hardly 2-3k. They have served me for years (actually decades!) without any niggle. I believe remote window operations, pre-cooling etc. should be possible in these cars regardless of auto-up/down and anti-pinch features (these 2 usually go along).
A few other weird things I have noticed from reviews I have seen so far:
1. Weird placement and operation of horn and other steering buttons, seems susceptible to unintended horn blows. I guess people will get used to it once they start using it.
2. Regen + is on left and - on right, seems counter intuitive and defying standard practices. It may create confusion if you use multiple cars wtih paddle shifter buttons. Or did they probably want to align with conventional (ICE) conventions, left=lower the gear=more regen braking for EVs? Seems possible.
3. You need to press window buttons up to roll down windows and vice versa! Don't know whether they are tryig to mimic some premium/luxury car here? Just like how they have done it for many other things.

I used my basic paint skills to remove vertical and bottom part of front DRLs on 6E and the car looks lot better to me. I hope it is possible to blacken out the DRLs without causing any the DRL to heat much. Attachment 2691642 |
I find front to be okay, I would want to do that for the rear. (and I am in high 40's

) Apart from that, I didn't like excessive creases and piano black claddings. I also didn't like this so called "cupe" design (mainly because it is form over function), and have almost come to hate the hype around it in curvv, and now these Mahindra. But since these cars pack so much and that too at a reasonable price point (fingers crossed regarding the pricing of higher variants), it is tempting. I don't feel as wary about quality/reliability/service concerns with Mahindra as I would for Tata. Based on what I hear around xuv700, niggles were there but they were of a lesser severity and they were more responsive to customer feedbacks and fixing them. Note: I don't own any Mahindra so far, so this is just my perception and it may be completely wrong too. I get an impression that overall quality/reliability of these cars will be considerably better than xuv700 (which is not too bad in itself), because of updated hardware/software and lessons learnt. Since they have used highly reputed suppliers and parts, and they seem to have given a lot of thought to each and every aspect (rather than just marketing hype), I won't hesitate to buy one at all. Even if there is some chance of being a part of beta testers. Rear space is also not a deal breaker since I am the tallest person in my immediate family at 5-7", though I would have liked it to be spacious like windsor regardless of that. So, to conclude, radical and flashy looks (which I count in negatives) become secondary to all the positives. I am sure it will eventually grow on me, especially if I go with one.
