Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

Seems like Mahindra have added a fourth mode on top of Range, Everyday and Race, which is called default mode. Not sure what it'll do but if Mahindra is smart they will make a mode which behaves like range in most of the throttle input but goes fast when the pedal is pressed all the way.

According to the podcast by Autocar India a few weeks ago, Mahindra always planned to launch these cars with AWD but that was planned with VW batteries as they had a front motor. Unfortunately that plan fell through as VW motors were more expensive than the Valeo ones, which means no AWD at least for the medium term.

I'm sure an AWD version will come later, but I don't think it'll be this year.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

Does anyone have any insights on what the power/torque spec is with and without the 'boost' functionality?

Also, what would default achieve that everyday as a driving mode wouldn't?

Why, instead, do we not have 'custom' -> That I would really like, esp if we can tune up the suspension to soft, steering to default and acceleration to progressive?

I'd rather a sustained 100% pedal position be respected if still depressed after 1.5 seconds.. eliminating the need to toggle to the race mode in my opinion.

I believe the speed is limited to 130kph in range and 165 in everyday. The torque at full accelerator press honestly not sure, but wouldn’t surprise me if that changes with updates. Some EVs even provide full power in every mode if you press the pedal fully. Just the half presses are different.

I believe that’s exactly what the default mode does. If you can see, it has a settings toggle next to it in bottom left which the other modes don’t have.

A lot of EVs do that, this might too. But IMO boost/race is still necessary as sometimes you want more power but not with full press but more granularity. Like an overtake + quick lane change which often is needed due to trucks occupying all lanes.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

Is there any feedback for the seats? I have taken 2 test drives and the seat feels really hard. Harder than any other car seat I have sat on. Is it because of the seat ventilation of Pack 3 or would that be standard across the variants?

All packs are now available on the configurator and indeed the lower variants have physical buttons on the steering wheel. Sharing a screenshot of the same.

The trim colors too seem a little different. Thought of sharing.

I recently took a test drive of the Mahindra BE6, and honestly, they’ve done a fantastic job. As you mentioned, switching to race mode makes the car incredibly fast, while the boost function is perfect for everyday driving. I won’t go into too much detail about the features, as the team has already covered them extensively in their reviews.
However, I want to highlight a major flaw in the much hyped ADAS features. Since I live in Kerala, I believe ADAS won’t be very effective unless the new highways are fully operational. During my test drive, I activated the steering assist feature and took my hands off the wheel. It performed well on both straight and curved roads until, suddenly, on a straight stretch, the car veered into the wrong lane despite oncoming traffic. This happened simply because the road lacked proper white lane markings, and the system couldn’t determine the correct path.
Another issue is Kerala’s dense traffic. The steering assist tries to keep the vehicle centered between the lane markings. Normally, even when we drive on the extreme left side of the road, public transport buses constantly honk from behind, demanding space to overtake. So, you can imagine the chaos if we drive in the middle of the two white lines as the system intends. This makes the feature almost impractical in our driving conditions. Unless roads are well marked and free from disruptions, these systems can be more of a risk than a benefit.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

I am considering the BE 6 as my 2nd car after Duster for 12 years.

I am out of the loop of EV benefits but did try to research:

Road tax better in Uttarakhand/Punjab/Chandigarh (I live in both)?

Any subsidies like FAME II etc?

Cant take Section 80EEA as i am in new tax regime.

Any other suggestions?

This is a caveat with most ADAS based systems on the road right now.
They rely on some level of street markings to exist. I've driven a couple of ADAS enabled vehicles so far.

The Safari did OK, but I wasn't relying on lane keep assist there. I was just monitoring how well it could keep track of lanes on an unmarked road. Which it seemed to do OK.

On the flip-side, the self-parking system on the BE6 works without any street markings. Have tested it myself. So I believe/hope that Mahindra will be able to strengthen their ADAS systems through software updates over time.

Features like LKA are only to be used on highways where there are lane markings and no autos or 2 wheelers are randomly swinging.

However some ADAS features like emergency braking and blind spot monitors apart from 360 degree camera are also useful in city.

I think of ADAS as warning systems rather than automatic driving systems. So even for lane assist I’ll only turn on warning rather than automatic steering. I don’t trust these systems enough, and I trust indian road design even less.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

This is the price list for the accessories I got from the dealer. These might change later.

From your experiences, what of these are absolutely not necessary? I am not getting the comfort kit.

what could be the reason behind the incompatibility of the 7D mats for pack 3?

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

May be floor levels are different for 59/79 kw variants hence need different design? Just speculation.

Actually I was looking at it closely and realised that they made an error on the sheet which messed up the entire row and its prices vs part number.

Its actually the side step that doesn't come with the Pack Three. And that is because only Pack Three comes with Carpet Lamps which would get in the way if you got a side step.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

Has anyone gotten the car allotted to them? Chassis num etc?

I am curious because some people here have received accessory lists, user guides etc. Meanwhile my showroom is just crickets at the moment.
