But in reality, the 2 best variants have to be Pack One 59 and Pack Three 79. The former for being affordable, the latter for having everything. Everything in between is a compromise.
I partially agree, to me this is how I feel about the variants:

Pack 1, pack 1 above 59: doesn’t make sense, it’s too barebones. You’re getting an EV but don’t even get the basic stuff like fog lamps or the killer sound system.

Pack 2 59: goldilocks. Has all the essential features added over pack 1. For anyone looking at VFM variant, this is it. The added kit is easily worth the extra over pack 1 and then some,

Pack 2 79: Should have existed. If it did, I’d have bought it.

Pack 3 59: Meh, doesn’t make sense. Doesn’t even add all the gizmos over pack 2. Misses out on L2+ Adas and the AR stuff. I’m in Bengaluru with the weird tax over 25 lakhs, but I’d still pay the extra 5 lakh for the big battery

Pack 3 79: Actually packs everything. The only thing I’m hesitating over is the added tax in Karnataka for this specific variant which isn’t ideal. But I do one road trip almost every month, so the added battery would be worth it. It adds ~50 bhp too which is honestly nice, and some added gizmos and faster charging. If you can spend, easily worth it even in Karnataka. Outside Karnataka it’s a no brainer over the pack 3 59.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

Was eyeing Pack 3 59kWh, was happy to see the ex-showroom but then the feature list left me a little sour.

I put up in Delhi-NCR (plenty of chargers around) and I don't really travel long distance that often (one reason being that my current MG Astor is a gas guzzler). Even after getting an EV, I highly doubt my usage would exceed 400-500km in a day, and that too will happen maybe 4-5 times a year.

Considering that, I feel 79kWh is an overkill. I had booked MG Windsor earlier and was very happy with that as a product but wished it had a little more juice and the 59kWh in BE6 is the perfect sweet-spot for me.

I really wish the 59kWh Pack 3 had ambient lights and L2 ADAS. I'd happily trade autopark for that. Now I'm left in a conundrum and I'm already extending my budget by 10L (over Windsor) so it doesn't seem rational to pick Pack 3 79kWh just for those two.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

Cost of battery is ~$100 for 1kW, as per Nitin Gadkari it has dropped from $150 to close to $100. So from 59 kW to 79kW, additional cost for company is $2000 or 1.7 lakh. Price of Pack 3 at 26.9 which is 2.4 lakh more with ADAS L2 does make sense. So, pack 3 is a good variant if someone has budget, only issue is for Karnataka/Bangalore where you have to dole out 3 lakh to road tax for city where roads are pathetic

Is the additional 10% road tax only for the incremental price above 25 lakhs or the full ex-showroom price of the car?

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

Sadly it is not the delta over 25L that attracts road tax but it is applied on the whole of ex-showroom price! That's exactly why it is such a dampner for me not to pick a varient that's over 25L ex-showroom. Hopefully, pack 2 - 79 KW exists or I will have to consider any of the varient that's priced under 25L ex-showroom. This isn't appearing to be a rational choice but 5L extra road tax is a deal breaker in KA IMO.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

Pack 2 pricing is fantastic. The feature set is quite exhaustive. Even the Pack One Above, its quite loaded (cruise control + 6 airbags + moonroof in the base+ version is not common) and it is priced superbly.

While I am itching to book the Pack 2, I will wait if and when they launch the Pack 2 79W version. Given that the price differential between the two battery packs is roughly 1.5L, if Mahindra gives the larger battery option in Pack 2, it would future proof my purchase. Am sure it will not happen soon, but am in no rush.

Kudos to Mahindra on the pricing.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

Pricing is great even if it increases by about 3 lakhs across all variants. Slightly disappointing feature breakup though.

Pack 1 is an awesome variant except for these essential missing items:
* fog lamps
* front parking sensors/360 camera
* one touch driver power window (this is only in pack 3? seriously?)
* tpms (though this could be added aftermarket)
* auto defogger
* optional 79kwh battery even if doesn't have the higher power

Other good to haves which should have been pack 1 above are:
* auto booster lamps
* leatherette steering and upholstery
* auto fold ORVM
* all window one touch up and down
* second row window sunshade

Pack 2 should have had:
* cornering lamps
* Sonic studio
* adas l2
* led drls
* adaptive cruise
* optional higher power with 79kwh battery
* Intelligent adaptive suspension

Pack 3 select or 2 above should have had glass roof and other items currently mentioned in pack 2 and 3 select.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

I had this thought long ago, that considering it's Mahindra and will not be sufficient for them to have just 3-variants per car. Just based on their history. I was thinking that they might launch variants in-between Pack-1 and Pack-2 and call it Pack 1.5 instead of Pack-1 Above , similarly call it Pack 2.5 instead of Pack-3 Select. Wondering if they want to launch special edition in future it would be called Pack-3.5

Does anyone know the additional pricing for the optional 20 inch wheels?

I believe you're missing something. Pack 2 does have almost all of the features you think is missing.

Pack 2 does have:
* Cornering lamps
* ADAS L2
* LED DRLs (it misses the C shape ones but it's LED)
* Adaptive cruise
* Glass roof

Agree on the adaptive suspension and 79kwh battery. I believe they will do the 79kwh battery for sure within next few months to an year.

They have also left space below the dashboard for another motor (which is why the frunk is so small). So an AWD is also most likely coming once Tata announce the Harrier EV. I think that's what Pack 3.5 or pack 3 AWD will be.

No official info but probably be ready to cough up upwards of 100k.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

The features description document indicates that Pack 2 (and above) for BE6 and XEV9e have 'rear A/C vents.'

This implies no rear a/c vents in Pack 1 (?). Yikes! It might be okay for BE6, but XEV9E is a large car.

If you closely look, I think by mistake they have mentioned FATC with Rear AC Vents in pack 1 also

I eagerly await updates on BE 6 and XEV 9 models with AWD or 4X4 capability. Whenever they decide to come out with the same.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

Will the 59kw battery pack have a better floor to seat ratio for BE6. If then it may be a better buy. 20kw extra battery is irrelevant with such super fast charging speeds. You can basically get 20kw of power in 10 mins of charging at a 120kw shell charger. Say a tea break in a long journey that’s all.
