It's a small town in Coorg and even though I do have three chargers it's a dicey prospect.
Bangalore to Coorg is super easy especially with the 9e. Even if all chargers around Coorg are down, Mysore has atleast 20 DC chargers and even during peak season they are not all occupied. At max you may need a 15-20 minute charging session. Further down on Bangalore - Mysore expressway you have Zeon and Chargezone chargers.

Inside Bangalore, they are around 7 Jio BP hubs which can charge 100+ cars simultaneously with 15-20 DC charging guns.

I get the apprehension if this is your first EV but don't worry you are in safe hands. Just stick to reliable CPOs like Zeon, Jio BP, Chargezone, She'll and avoid all govt petrol bunk chargers. You will have a smooth ride.

I had BE6 scheduled test drive last week, it took longer than it should and I waited patiently. There wasn't anyone else to drive BE6 and the 9E was seen going out on another test drive during the wait. The staff were seen trying many things on BE6 walking around it, I noticed the door handles wouldn't close into flush position even though technicians tried their best. Eventually, I could drive the car with the door handles not closing into flush position, once inside the car the seats wouldn't move, the boot won't open and windows except driver side won't open or close. The reason for all that was a minor damage to the right side DRL, the casing of the DRL had a crack, the LED still functional and a dent mark below on the bumper. Per the executive, this car was involved in a minor incident that day and problems started since then. The test drive went well, nothing more to report than what's covered in the previous posts. I politely refused the ask to give a PDC to confirm booking though I had carried my chequebook for two reasons. #1 fear of having to deal with disproportionate concequences that may be triggered by small incidents - where the car shuts down or having to deal with totally unrelated issues . #2 I want to wait for pack2 pricing and hopefully that's below 25L mark, would like to get full benefit of road tax concessions in Karnataka.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

I hope that Mahindra is doing extensive testing and production versions delivered are of good quality. It will be big loss for company if they mess up the first big step of their EV plans !!

Just an update for interested people: Got confirmation from Mahindra Sahyadri that they received BE6E for a test drive. XEV9E is still not available.
I am planning to visit tomorrow.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

Test drove the BE6 yesterday and here's my take in short.

Big Positives:
Power = Best performance under 50L
Interior = Look and quality felt good
Music Sytem = Best that i have heard recently

Major Cons:
Rear Seat = Knees up position and lack of under thigh support can be uncomfortable on long drives for adults [not necessarily tall]
Visibility = Rear visibility was quite poor. You would have to get used to relying heavily on the rear cameras and blind spot assistance
Boot = Felt even smaller than what the numbers and pictures suggest

In comparison to my compass, it felt like an upgrade solely in terms of power and features while in most other aspects it felt at par or maybe even short.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

Checked out the BE6 at a local dealer today, they had just 1 car for TD and I didn't really want to wait, so might do later.

Mahindra BE 6 Review-20250131_143152.jpg

The design is eye catching for sure. I saw the same colored car driving on the road as well, earlier in the day and it doesn't look as odd as it does on photos.

The interiors up front are polarising, the design is really in your face . Clearly loaded with features but the quality was nothing great. The plastics are not especially high quality, maybe okay for the entry level variants but definitely not acceptable for the price of pack 3. The space in the front seats is adequate and electrically adjustable seats are quite good. Yes the floor is high but you can get comfortable.

The Rear seat though, is basically a dealbreaker for me. I ducked down to get in, and still managed to hit my head. Once in, the seat base is low and the floor is high. It's the same issue as I felt in the first EV i ever tried, Kona EV. The knees up position is akin to the 3rd row of most SUVs/MPVs and I won't be comfortable even for small journeys in these seats. Plus the seats are quite upright and the headroom is also limited. I think it would be worse in Pack 1 with no glass roof.

I was forced to try the XEV after this disappointment and that too has a bit high floor but the seats are also set higher, making it adequately comfortable, though still a bit upright.

Overall, i feel the backseat of the BE 6 is worse than even Sub 4m crossovers(something that most of us deem to be cramped) and would be a dealbreaker for many. It would have been better to let go of the coupe sloping roof and put the seats higher with enough space.

Goa seems to be getting a step-motherly treatment, still waiting for test drives. Cars came in last monday, but waiting "service clearance". And to make matters worse, just 1 dealer across Goa and as of now just 1 showroom will be providing test drives

I just wanted to ask: Are the maps that are shown in the Instrument Cluster Google Maps (fetched from Android Auto/ Apple Carplay), or are they the inbuilt navigation maps?

I have a small question regarding paint colours.
I have pre-booked the be6 in the stealth black color. I was reading online and it says that darker colors heat up more and the effective range drops a lot because more energy is needed to cool the battery and car.

Living in India, its obvious that temperatures will be hot. For me in coorg(temperate today as I write this is 30 degrees). In summer, during the day temperature go all the way to 38 degress at it worst.

What kind of range will be expected at such temperatures?
Does the colors actually matter and is the effect on range that significant?

I was told by the Sales advisor that the AR HUD is from mapples(inbuilt navigation), therefore the instrument cluster also must be the same.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

Today, I took a test drive of the Be6. I had to wait for the test drive, as it was scheduled for 10:30 am, but the car arrived at the showroom at 12 pm. The test drive was only 3 km long. The car looked futuristic and had more advanced technology, but I faced two issues during the test drive. First, the steering wheel was square, making it difficult to turn. Second, the brake was too sharp even a small tap would stop the car. Are EV brakes generally like this? I didn't face this issue with the Tata Harrier; its braking was very smooth.

I drove xev 9e today and didn’t find such a behaviour with its brakes

On top of this do you havd any insight on the color of the paint? Do darker colored cars perform worse or is it negligible?

Yes, darker colours (especially black) attract more heat, and would overwork the AC, thereby resulting in less range.

I think this is one of the primary reasons why they are not offering black on the Xev 9e for the end customer.

Well. This information just breaks my heart..because the Be6 looks like the batmobile in black. I'll probably change the booking now to firestorm orange or desert mist gloss. My heart craves the black but I don't see a point if it gets in the way of range

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

Question in Satin colours, are they tough to maintain? BE6 have couple of Satin colours and my sales adviser highly recommend them
