Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

Just came across this recent video by someone driving the car in Delhi and by lanes of Karol Bagh. Not sure if this was a TD, but if so, seems to be quite an extensive drive.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

In an interesting post by Autocar they are mentioning the Halo Loop in BE 6 could be made optional. Though whether on launch is still a question. I am also not a big fan of this divider. I just wish there was an option to remove all piano black plastics.

I am not so sure about this for two reasons-

1) It houses an AC vent inside it at the extreme top.
2) It houses ambient lighting inside it.

Mahindra will need to configure these things if they want to sell two variants and that maybe a costly exercise. I like this Halo loop and it doesn't seem to hamper the interior space.

None of them on call will tell you they have it. But if you visit, I suspect you might be able to catch one if you are very lucky. Friends and Family of dealers or who's who in Mahindra are getting an invite to register for a test drive with a code. They can block a date for a home visit and the dealer visits them with the cars for the test drive. This is how such videos from some random folks are coming on YouTube in Delhi driving the car (I posted one a few comments above). I got to know this yesterday when my boss mentioned he had such a token mail and was planning to book the home visit for next weekend.

Are the test rides only restricted to NCR? What about other metro cities? I don’t have any hopes of even getting a feel in the flesh till January end here in Lucknow.

Please let us know if any slots open up for referral as I’ve come to know that those who are part of WoW programme can refer other buyers for test rides

This video says that they have started offering rides to some special people, John Abraham seems to be one of them.

They’re not open for test drives yet but I’ve sat in the BE6 and XEV E9 in Bengaluru. Saw the cars while I was taking a test drive of the 3XO and safe to say, I’m not buying the 3XO now.

The E9 feels about half a tier above the XUV700 in interior quality. The best feature I liked was the memory seats where the seat goes backwards when you unlock and lock the car so that you can get in and out easily, then gets back into position when you’re on it. Last time I saw that was in Tesla Model Y and loved it on that car too.

However the killer car is the BE 6. I thought the XEV is the car id buy if I was buying between the two, but after sitting in the BE6 it’s clearly the better car. The interiors are a class apart and definitely not comparable to anything below 40L.

I’m booking the BE6 on day 1, pack 3 for sure unless pack 2 is super value for money (pack 3 without sunroof). I need the ADAS, UV cut glass and the fancy sound system.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

I clearly see that BE 6 is going to eat up sales of not only EV's like Tata curve and Nexon but also the compact ICE SUV's like 3XO, Creta and Seltos as well. I hope Mahindra has manufacturing capacity to meet the demand

I think it will eat up a lot of sales of EVs much more expensive than the BE 6. Like, how many can justify paying double for the Ionic 5 with less power, less features, facelift launched globally? Atto 3? MG ZS? I think all other non-luxury brand EV will have to seriously cut prices in order to compete with Mahindra.

All of this is dependent on the Mahindra EVs not having serious electrical issues of course. I am also in the market for an EV and could consider the ionic 5 if it was cheaper because I don't want to be a beta tester for free for Mahindra. But so far, these 2 Mahindra's have impressed me so much I told my BYD guy that I'm no longer considering the Atto 3 for a few months until I get initial feedback about the Mahindras because I'm strongly leaning towards them now.

Thanks for sharing your views about the 2, most probably, blue eyed boys of Indian automotive world today.

Btw, this feature you liked is called “welcome feature” by M&M and was introduced in XUV700 AX7 variants.
Though, I’m not sure if other M&M cars in between that one and BE6 got it.

Thanks for your views on the BE twins. But the feature you have mentioned above is quite common. This is what the manufacturers call Welcome feature. If I am not wrong, even Tata offers the same with the latest Harrier and Safari. Mahindra too offers it with XUV7oo since 2020.

Yup I haven’t test driven expensive cars in a while. Was mostly driving cars around 20L and none of the other cars have memory seats which is necessary for this feature.

I TD’ed 700 a few years ago and it didn’t have this feature back then. Maybe got added later or I was driving a lower end variant. Sat in the 700 as well and these cars definitely felt better. Will take a proper test drive in mid Jan as the service executive hinted at.

My point was more about the comparison between the 6 and 9E, as the 6 felt more premium inside to me. My wife also felt the same.

Did you get any information on the Packs? I was hoping for mid-variant with a sunroof (i do not care for a sun roof per say, but given the dark interiors, think it would be necessary for this car). Also any indications on the pricing front of the packs?

I am hoping the 59W variant will be 18.99L / 20.99L / 21.99L with the 79W variant probably charging 1-1.5L premium.

No info on that front. We already know what pack 1 and pack 3 have officially from Mahindra. Only pack 2 is pending.

The features to split are:

* Ventilated and powered seats

* Alloy wheels

* ADAS

* glass roof/moonroof/sunroof

* UV glass

* Fancy sound system

I believe the pack 2 will have alloy wheels, ventilated and powered seats, fancy sound system. Sunroof, UV glass and ADAS are generally kept for top variant only. But I could be wrong.

I believe the pricing will probably be close to what you’re guessing. I’ve heard some rumours of 1.5 lakh for every variant and 1.5 lakh for battery upgrade.

Pack 3 80kwh should be around 25 lakhs. But let’s see as it’s just my guess.
