So someone without my consent has canceled my booking. My SA tells she has no idea who did that, but they'll try to get my vehicle soonish and try to reverse this. Let's see.

I'm in the same boat—no charger booking.

Today I have learned the various reasons for the delays and cancelled bookings:
  • Original booking variant was: PACK THREE - B79 KWH - R19 - 7.2 KW - Pack Three 79kwh - 7.2 Kw - Stealth Black - 2WD

  • After the backlash against compulsory chargers, they stepped back and made them optional.

  • Some dealers tried to deliver the cars but when billing, mahindra's system had only the above choices, which automatically picked the price with the charger. So some dealers reduced it via artificial discount and kept the charger. Other dealers, like in my case, saw this as unfeasible as they wont be able to bill and provide warranty for the leftover charger if sold separately as they wouldnt have a bill from mahindra for it.

  • After two gruelling months, Mahindra added the new Variant code PACK THREE - B79 KWH - R19 - NCH - Pack Three 79kwh - Nch - Stealth Black - 2WD but were not able to edit existing bookings so they had the dealers cancel our bookings and create new ones with the new variant code.

  • The next delay is because the new code has to go thru the RTO registration process without which the cars cannot be insured, registered etc.

  • Now, hopefully the final delay, my dealer says that they are waiting for Mahindra to transport the cars with the new codes, after which they should be able bill and deliver. Estimated early May.

This whole thing could has been so much better with transparency.

Why even include the charger as part of the car increasing the on road cost ( insurance, taxes, loan interests etc). It could have easily been an add on accessory.

Ohh, this makes so much sense. I’ve also been told that I should get my car allotted in first or second week of May. With charger obviously I can take the car delivery today itself but honestly I’ve waited too long already to get one without charger.

Was Mahindra not aware of how difficult it is to get sanctioned load increased and get permissions from RWAs? Especially for buyers who live in gated communities and the load increases need to go through the society’s total load increase.

I’ve tried to get my load increased since a couple months now and have given up, because I’ll have to pay at least 50-60k in bribes alone to get it approved. If Mahindra was serious about chargers and making our lives easier they should have included the load increase service too to make an end to end solution. Leaving the tough task of bureaucratic nightmare to customers while forcing down chargers down their throats is terrible.

This has honestly been a total miss by Mahindra. They would have not caused months of pain if they just added the charger as an accessory. Honestly I wouldn’t have minded the car cost be 10-20k more to make up for their fat margins on chargers if they made it optional from the start.

Just a heads-up—there’s no Pack 2 with 79 kWh. Only Pack 3 offers the 79 kWh option. All other variants come with 59 kWh. So if you're looking for 79 kWh, you’ll need to go with Pack 3."

01. If the car comes with a 3.5 kW portable charger, the 7.2 and 11 kW options should’ve been available as optional.

02. A 3.5 kW charger is plenty if you're driving under 250 km a day and for longer trips, you'll be using DC fast chargers on the road anyway.

03. Yes, upgrading to higher power is super expensive and a hassle, especially dealing with those slow, corrupt state-run companies.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

Hi Guys,

How do we use the 16A socket in the mahindra mcb box? Do I just plug in the portable charger in the socket and turn on the mcb switch or is there something else I need to do? I am unable to use it as the portable charger is not turning on while using the 16A socket. Any inputs will be appreciated.

Thanks

I do it the following way.

1. Plug the charger port into the car.
2. Plug the 3 pin plug into the socket on the DB.
3. Turn the single breaker on (there are 2 breakers. A single, and a triple), and then the plug point.
4. Pull the cable through the cutout in the DB, and lock the DB.
5. Lock the car.

Interesting to see another orange brother in Pune!

Ironically, I have so far not spotted any BE6 in Pune, apart from my own.

Basic air filter, not PM2.5 grade.

Re: Mahindra BE 6 Review

Post the new non charger variant code, is anyone else still having issues getting their booking changed to a non-charger one?

My dealer in Pune is dragging their feet on making this change.

Since I live in a rented apartment, I plan to charge the car at work. The additional costs, security deposit and running around to get this sanctioned just don't make sense till I move into my own place.
