Most of us are getting a dash cam for the following reasons
1. The quality of secure 360 footage doesn't seem to be great even during daytime let alone night vision
2. No-one including people from Mahindra seem to have a clear idea as to whether secure 360 will record all the time or only during incidents. Will the incidents be purely determined by the whims & fancies of Maia or we can set parameters ?
3. I for one am unable to get anything other than blank screen currently in the secure 360 app & can get access to any live recording.
4. Dashcam routed to routine 12 v can give you a better loop video recording, secure 360 when it gets working can give you parking monitoring without us fiddling around with the fuse in a new born electric car.

The last was the reason as to why I opted for a good quality dashcam.

Yes, I saw you got a digital IRVM installed but can’t the same be replicated by pressing the 360 camera button on the centre console and then press the rear view camera icon? Since the digital mirror is pretty expensive and the obstruction is mainly caused due to the boot insides but I can still see helmets and heads i think.

I haven’t looked at the quality of the 360 videos yet but the non continuous recording sucks. The car should have a dash cam feature without installing a dash cam.

Have you also got a dash cam installed for the front? Please share images of the digital IRVM if possible

1. Saving footage in case of emergency. If there is a emergency event, the event is recorded in the user provided pen drive. In case you want to save some other clip while driving, the save button has to explicitly pressed to save the recording.
2. In Sentry mode, the car detects any unwarranted movement and notifies the owner. This event also gets saved to the pen drive connected.

And in both cases, the events get overwritten if the pen drive runs out of space.

So is Secure360 performing the above functions? Also, Can you explain what you mean by "we cannot get to save say a week’s recording after using our own pendrive."
1) In Mahindra’s implementation, the emergency recordings will only get recorded in case of hard braking or ADAS functions like autonomous emergency braking being activated or in case of a serious accident. This was conveyed to me by Mahindra Research Valley people. But in reality, emergency recordings are just recordings of me driving the car normally or the car just being parked with no movement around. So basically, it’s just random useless video recordings.

2) In Mahindra’s sentry mode, I can see zero recordings so far and yes a lot of people and cars pass by my car. Incidents such as someone trying to gain access to the car by tampering with the driver side door handle will get recorded in emergency recordings. There is no recording if someone scratches or dents your car or even hits the standstill car.

I meant that there should be an option to record continuous videos for say upto a week which can get stored into a user-provided pen drive instead of the car’s hard drive. The car’s hard drive just records random events which have no relevance to the safety of the car.

I have contacted Mahindra about the tyre condition and to claim warranty because I have not even driven 50kms after taking delivery of the car at 112kms on the Odo . I am waiting for them to revert.
How much did the tyre upgrade cost and also is it suggested to upgrade if the car comes with goodyears? Also any change in ride quality or handling or road noise after the tyre upgrade?

I suppose the goodyear tyres are EV specific tyres with foam or something inside.

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Hi existing 9E owners,

I have been following up week on week since a month with Automotive Mahindra folks here in Hyderabad for my Nebula Blue 9E.

The SA gave me a ‘friendly advise’ that I should wait for a month atleast until Mid May for issues to be sorted, unless I am in immediate need for a car.

What do you suggest? How big of a show stopper are these ongoing software niggles and how concrete of an assurance are you getting from the brand/dealer? Just curious.

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

I have reported following software issues with some evidences to Mahindra. While they are not show stoppers, it would be good if they fix it.
  1. Range estimation shown in the Me4U app differs from range shown in the instrument cluster.
  2. I am unable to turn off the middle and passenger screen, the screen uses a black background but they are not actually off. This is distracting at night and since these are not off they consume power too. This needs to be fixed, off means off.
  3. There are many "null" values in infotainment and since I work on software I know what they are but for normal people please rephrase them as "Not Available". Same for "Invalid date", you can word it better. I don't know how this could have made it to production.
  4. User profiles are not editable and it is always on "Guest Mode". This needs to be in sync with memory seat configuration.
  5. NFC card not issued & NFC lock & unlock function not enabled.
  6. In Me4U app the warranty status is showing as "expired".
  7. In Me4U app the chargers should list out only CCS2 plugs, currently it also lists Ather chargers which are of no use.
  8. Unable to remove unnecessary apps from media/co passenger screen (Fun&Work section).
  9. OTA is yet to be enabled, we have to go to service each time to update the system.
  10. There is no proper software version information available so it is hard to know if we are on latest software.

I encourage all the owners to mail their customer care with issues they encounter. They seem to be responsive and I hope the fixes are in place in next upgrade. Customer care email here.

You are right, the 360 camera especially the rear quality is great. Problem is it's not always on and goes off after a while. Plus the button to activate is a pain to press. I like to have it in peripherals at all times.

Had it installed today but not happy with it at all. The slope of the front windshield plus the small mirror area makes it impossible to adjust (less area on the top of the actual mirror for the plugs) Plus too close to my face, so blocks the limited viewing area.

Spoke to the Wolfbox team and got to hand it to them they were super understanding. They are ready to exchange it with another model (X5 model)

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Can someone please provide a reliable interior modification vendor in Mumbai- I want to add some soft touch material in the centre tunnel where the knees come in contact with the hard plastic. I swished through some pages on other threads but cant identify a good vendor.

I’d strongly recommend installing a separate dashcam as a reliable backup - especially in case the Secure360 system doesn’t record continuous footage as expected, or ends up requiring a pricey subscription down the line. I personally use a 70mai front + rear setup, and it’s saved me on three different occasions when traffic cops claimed I jumped a red light. The dashcam footage clearly showed the signal turning amber as I crossed - solid proof that avoided both fines and unnecessary debates!

Given how unpredictable Indian roads can be - whether it's signal confusion, spontaneous lane changes, or the occasional “creative” version of events - an independent, tamper-proof recording system goes from being a nice-to-have to an absolute must-have.

Secure360 certainly has its place, but if you want real peace of mind (and fewer grey hairs), a dedicated dashcam is a wise investment.

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Sorry I am raking up the tyre issue again. How common is it for people to get MRFs instead of the goodyears? I honestly think if they advertised with goodyears and the goodyears are EV specific and have foam and what not in them we should all have got those right?

Is there any demerit to continuing with MRF Markus? Folks who have got MRFs, are you continuing with them? Should I push hard with Mahindra on this issue?

VisionX is very blurry for me. Anyone else facing this issue? There is a plastic cover kind of thing visible on top. Should that be removed?

My 11 month old son found a fix for this today during our first long trip in the XEV to Tirupati.

There is an option to turn off the displays by long pressing on the control knob. It then shows three options to turn off the passenger display, centre information display and then an option to shutdown. I haven’t tried the shutdown option fearing that might turn everything off including the instrument cluster.

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Good evening folks,

After driving around 450 kms today from Erode to Tirupati, I noticed an issue which seems to be related to QC of the car. I started experiencing a lot of discomfort and pain in the shoulder and shoulder blades.

My father then noticed the difference in the driver and passenger seat headrest. The passenger seat headrest sits flush while the driver side protrudes creating a difference in the backrest angle.

Can anyone check this on your cars and let me know if it’s the same? If not, my first service is planned for Saturday and will raise this concern with the team.

Yes, you’ll have to remove that protective layer. Sadly it is not as easy as it sounds. The pull tab for it is actually under the plastic. So the best way is to use a wide cello tape, stick it with the sticker then pull it out. Be careful and do it slowly. It should come out clean. Also be careful when cleaning the surface since this reflective surface is made of plastic not glass. I wish they used glass here for more clarity.

Disgusting behavior! My neighbour's brand new Kushaq with ceramic coating was keyed all around using a really sharp metal piece recently. The person made sure that every panel had a scratch.

If the surveillance mode had worked as intended the criminal would have been caught.

People who scratch cars intentionally are a special kind of evil.
