Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

HI
Its been a week since my 9e got delivered, but i did not drive it much. Today I took it for a long drive about 400KM up and down from Hyderabad.
Onward Journey:
Starting while driving I initally noticed an issue with my left back tyre(sensor was showing a problem) but on manual inspection I noticed nothing and as I continued my journey the symbol went away and then after some time it resurfaced showing right back tyre as an issue. I neglected it and drove forward and then symbol went away, Probably a sensor issue.
Then when I wanted to keep cruise control then I was not able to start any kind of ADAS features and when I tried to switch on them it was showing as blank(Attaching reference images). I immediately contacted mahindra showroom people and then said they will get back to me and after a day mentioned that my car needs an installation of software and I need to bring it to the showroom. So tomorrow I will be taking it to the showroom.
Auto Door unlock, when we come near the car is not functioning, have to get it sorted.
Ocassionally it was showing that it requires wheel balancing while I was driving at high speed.
I also drive an Innova Hycross, and seating of which I felt is more comfortable than 9E.
Center buttons are a big minus
I did not do KYV and hence had an issue with fast tag but during the return journey I sorted it out.

Coming to the positives
Amazing drive which i enjoyed a lot. Very silent and very stable even in high speeds.
Many times we don't even know the speed till we see the speedometer.
Control of the vehicle is also very good.
Range with speeds around 120-130 kmph gives probably around 400-450.(Could not sat exactly i drove in power saving mode once the charge dipped to 35% and i reached my home with 22% charge).

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

I spoke to customer engagement manager today from hyderabad as I dont have any update regarding my booking.

The summary from his call.

1. Many customers are waiting for delivery even after emi started.
2. He suggested me to wait for another month to get car allotment in next lot and without any ongoing issues of software updates.
3. There was a contradictory statement on charger purchase. Initially he suggested me to go with 11kw than 7.2kw as this longer time. When informed him that my usage would be mostly city drives, he again said 7.2kw is enough. Upon saying that I will go with travel charger supplied with car, he mentioned install 7.2kw charger and it can be downgraded to 3.3kw charger. Not sure he is making me fool here.

4. Said best option is to wait and take delivery rather rushing now.
5. When asked about the actual reason for delay and was it due to color scheme I opted ( RUBY VELVET) he said it will take another 2 months for this color as they started the production for this color scheme recently.

Not sure should I wait or change the color for faster delivery.

Again in the evening SA from neon motors hyderabad called me and asked if I am interested in buying XEV9E. When I informed him of my booking at vvc motors and if they can deliver the car faster. He mentioned with in a month he can deliver the car provided I cancel the booking at vvc and do fresh booking at neon motors with colors of either white or red.

Now I am in dilemma on how to proceed. Whether stick to my current booking or check with vvc for color chnage option to get faster delivery or go with neon motors.

Please let us know what Mahindra does reply on this, since I have been provided with MRF tyres too on my car and not very convinced about them either.

I too have noticed this, same goes for auto lock when I walk away. I should add this to the list of niggles.

Leg 1: 436 KMs done on highway in 74% Soc. Did charge 13kwh in a 16 min quick coffee take away break. Drive was in Power Saving mode at 85-90km/hr speed. Average trip speed is around 55km/hr, which is very decent for NH. Total trip 879km.
Those are excellent figures considering we are already in peak summer temperatures. Would you also comment on the gradient of your route? Were you going uphill or downhill or was it completely flat? Start and end destination would help too.

Please see the elevation graph below. So in Leg 1, it was from A->B and then in Leg 2, it was B->A.

Do not go by the promises of the dealers, all they want to do is show bookings against their name. There is no guarentee that they would deliver earlier. Better wait it out with your current booking. For the charger I would suggest to get it installed from outside with a reputed brand like Exicom or Zevpoint would work out cheaper. Ideally you dont have to downgrade the charger to 3.3KW, there is an option in the car charging settings to set charging to low, medium or high. I am not exactly sure how much KW each one of them corresponds to. Probably someone already using this can comment. My guess would be low would be 3.3kw, medium 7KW and high 11KW. Also if you get charger from outside the charger apps themself give an option to select the charging current so you can control from there as well.

Congratulations. I am on the same boat and got the same color. I also bought F77 but yet to install the same. Would you mind sharing some reference pics please on the installation?

I also have the cladding issue that slightly touches the front driver side door cladding. I told the SA about same and he said he will fix it.

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

The XEV and BE cars have a Regen trick up their sleeves! These cars have something called Auto Regen which is enabled by holding the (-) Regen paddle lever for few seconds when the speed is above 20 km/hr.
In this mode, the car uses Radar to automatically toggle between L1 and 1 Pedal / L3 based on traffic conditions.

This mode is best suited for highways.

Note: The system cannot detect potholes, speed bumps etc. Hence, please be mindful of this fact.

Nice info. Would you please elaborate more on this feature, possibly the underlying mechanism and use case in Indian traffic conditions?

I have been asked to take them to the dealership and get them examined. Did you inspect the tyres you have got? Do they have cuts and cracks ?

436 Km in 84% charge in 42+ degrees and 5+2 passengers along with luggage and on a incline is simply stupendous! In normal scenarios read 25-30 degree temperature, 1-3 passengers and flat roads the range would be even better.

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Is a 3rd party dash cam recommended for 9E? I was under the impression that secure 360 can save a recording from the cameras on a press of a button in case of any mishaps.
I have been driving my 9E for almost 2 weeks now -
1) Auto parking is a hit or miss. Sometimes it works well but sometimes it just cancels parking saying not enough space when there is clearly plenty of space. Maybe i just need to figure out how to use it properly.
2) Ride quality when comparing to my innova crysta is better over potholes and bad roads but when the roads are good with only tiny undulations the ride becomes VERY bouncy on the 9E compared to Innova. I have check tyre pressure and they are at 35 PSI on 9E.
3) Range is as promised by Mahindra - easy 500km + if conditions and driving style is even half way decent.
4) The AC seems to not be as effective when compared to my crysta or hyryder.
5) Minor software niggles - nothing major which i am hopeful will get sorted with software updates.

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Have finally gotten delivery of 9E last week! Delivery process turned horrendous as we didnt land up getting the car! However, the dealership provided a demo car instead and then finally delivered my car in 4 days!
Pros:
- M&M are listening carefully to customers, have been in touch with the their Regional GM. He is pretty insightful and is very proactive.
- The car is a star to drive and makes you feel like one as well! Feels as if people are driving keeping their heads turned back..
- Super comfortable to drive and be seated in. Extremely well insulated and gives a cocoon feeling
- have not been able to drive much as yet.. planning a road trip of 350 kms soon.. will share the deets.
- Not noticed many software niggles as yet except the 3: Auto park stops due to lack of space in spite of enough being available, Key Fob parking doesn't start at all.
- Also, need to know if there is some way to start the tail lamp connected bar as that doesn't turn on automatically.

As suggested by @dhtyaga I will suggest you to stay with your current booking. White and Red are most booked colors for XEV 9E. I saw many of these when I visited service center. There are a few Nebula Blues also getting delivered.
My experience with Neon has not been great. The SA just want your booking and then stop responding after booking is done. They will make excuses when delivery cannot be made. I canceled my Thar Roxx booking with Neon due to no communication and response from SA.

I would suggest you to check with Landmark Mahindra showroom in Tellapur. Anil Reddy (93463 three two five six seven) was responsive to my BEV enquiries and I got to test drive on decent stretches.
