Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

As per my knowledge, Mahindra is not listening to anyone, not even the dealer. The production team or technical team at Mahindra plant has to unlock the VIN number for billing. This can happen only when PDI check has been confirmed by dealership after updating the software and removing any other glitches. They will remotely check the software for errors or any other corrupt environment before unlocking the car.

My only issue is Mahindra has betrayed early adopters. Until now for the past decade and more, Mahindra used to deliver cars to first time buyers as per booking ID in sequence. But this is not the case anymore. Its so disheartening to see others drive away with their cars while i had to go to showroom everyday, write an email and attending calls regularly. Mahindra should have given the cars to those who booked first, but instead they decided to hold us off for almost a month while those who booked even after a couple of days are receiving their cars.

In that case Mahindra should clarify to their customers and clear communication should have been there either on email or general announcement.
Everyday following up with Showroom or Mahindra is only adding frustration. You rightly said, delivery should be planned as per booking number basis.

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

I see many new Mahindra EVs on the forum, congratulations on all.

In my experience Mahindra is turning out to be a very difficult company to buy from. Even if you do get the car, there is just so much confusion on features and waiting for things to work. I am also chiming in to vent a bit with fellow members.

Mostly I have been using the German cars and last one BMW 530d which I still love and hate the NCR rules for not being able to use it any longer. With all the NCR sentiments I had to look for a new car and this time I thought of going for an Indian car and bring back some old love for off roading. As you can guess, I booked a Thar Roxx, within the first couple of minutes of opening of its bookings.

Got a promised date of delivery in Feb-Mar'25 then the dealer informed to me that it will be available in June'25. After many emails to Mahindra finally got a car allocated in Mar'25 and with great excitement I went for PDI and found the car to be horribly dirty from inside and outside. Asked the dealer to clean it and after multiple best efforts by them, it was agreed that it cannot be brought to like new condition, I took the option of waiting for another car for which I am still waiting for.

I also booked XEV 9e as eventually I will need a second car by the end of this year (NCR rules again). This time I completed the online booking within the first minute of opening on Feb 14th. Despite of reaching out to dealer (different than Roxx) and Mahindra I still don't have a date when to expect the car.

Two back-to-back instances where I am not fully satisfied as a customer. I know Mahindra folks sometimes watch these forums and other social media. My sincere message would be to please improve these aspects as you go up the ladder with your cars, the best ones have exceptional product and service experience, and I would love to see an Indian company be among the best in world.

Did you even see his original video?
He doesn't even know what he was talking about. He was calling the 3.3 KW charging as DC charging. He claimed 60 KW charger will charge the car in 30 mins. He drove the car at 120-160 kmph speeds very regularly and at 90+ speeds when battery was too low. He had every feature switched on. Was driving erratically and then claimed he didn't get any range and started blaming Mahindra and the car. He rarely showed the instrument cluster and even when he did the car was showing good range for the battery left. This is being circulated a lot in insta and even in twitter(X) with both Mahindra and the cars being criticized while its the driver who did all this for likes and views. He didn't even show the trip details and its stats to prove his claim. Don't fall for these stupid videos and look for authentic reviews or user experiences in bhp forums to confirm the range.

Did you check why it is so with Exicom, ideally the charger should limit the charging current even if requested by the car as per the App settings.
Verified with both the Exicom technical team and Mahindra Service advisor before replying to you.

Car delivered from AMPL, Banjara Hills on 22nd March 2025.

I am staying in Kondapur.

Sorry for the late reply.

Please give suggestions and views for maintaining the interior of 9 E.

Can we use another layer of seat covers as leatherette seat covers are already given by Mahindra?

As the front seats have ventilation and airbags function may be affected, I am looking for suggestions.

I recently bought the Mahindra XEV-9E on March 21, 2025, from Indraprastha Mahindra, and my experience has been far from what one would expect from a premium electric vehicle.

A Rough Start at the Dealership

The first red flag came right at the dealership. Not only was the delivery process chaotic and unprofessional, but they also made a significant billing error by invoicing me for the wrong vehicle. This error led to an insurance policy being issued on incorrect details, and despite several follow-ups, I am still waiting for a refund for the incorrect policy.

Early Technical Glitches

That wasn't the end of it. Just three days after taking delivery, the vehicle began displaying errors: a high motor temperature alert and a battery derating alert. For a brand-new EV priced at nearly ₹35 lakhs, these issues were concerning and have left me questioning the quality control standards.

Service Woes

Adding to the frustration, the vehicle is now stuck at the service center at Indraprastha Automobiles in Jahangirpuri, less than a week into ownership. Attempts to get support from the charger team have also failed, leaving me stranded without a clear path forward.

Final Thoughts

I thought the Mahindra XEV-9E was a strong contender in the EV market, but the combination of dealership errors, technical faults, and lack of responsive after-sales service has been a major letdown.

Have any other owners experienced similar issues with their new EV purchases? Your insights and experiences would be valuable in shedding more light on this troubling situation...
Our car delivery was smooth at Hyderabad on Saturday, March 22.

The app works perfectly. An insurance policy was issued with 50 percent NCB.

Completed 557 km.

Till now, the car has gone to the showroom for accessories (Film on 3 screens and sidestep).

And the boot was not closing properly. A technician posted by Mahindra at the showroom guided us properly and now there are no issues.

Be careful when giving cars to detailers guy. Tried to save some money and gave my car to a local detailer instead of a renowned one for ceramic coating. They did a decent job but my ORVMs have stopped being adjustable after coming back from the shop ....

Considering its a first batch Mahindra, it's an open question if the detailer did something such as using too high powered a pressure washer too closely to the mirrors, or if its just a manufacturing niggle from Mahindra.

VVC is not even responding to my calls. Will visit personally this week.

Anyone got delivery of ruby velvet color? I think this new scheme is delaying my car allotment.

I'm having a similar issue with the automatic boot closure. It doesn't close properly from the right side and pushes back slightly on pressing of key fob button or from the auto boot open close button on boot lid. Due to this it shows "boot door open" sign on the me4u app and on DID too.

Showed it to the dealer SA (PPS Mahindra Pune) today but they couldn't rectify. They have informed me that it is a software issue rather than a mechanical issue and have escalated to Mahindra for software update, but I'm wondering if it really is a software issue. The boot eventually needs to be shut down with slight push by hand to remove the error sign.

Can you please let me know what exactly did the technician do in ur case to help you with this problem.

Apart from this I'm facing similar problems like others on this forum, such as non operation of auto lock and unlock when going away from the car, driver side door requiring more pressure to shut completely etc

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

I had two bookings for 9E but already cancelled one and plan to cancel the other too. I am seeing too many owners reporting niggles (both mechanical and software) which makes me think that the car is in beta testing phase. I am going to wait for Mahindra to mature the product and hope for an AWD variant in the meantime.

I had no interest in Electric cars until I saw 9E and test drove it. But I am sad Mahindra kind of killed my new found love. I am gonna enjoy my turbo-petrol cars until my love for electrics gets rekindled. I know there are some fantastic electric cars in 60 to 70 lakhs budget but I am not prepared to shell out that kind of cash for the limited range they offer.

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Hi further update on my issues with XEV 9E. My list of issues is increasing instead of decreasing.
The very fact that the vehicle has developed more problems after going to the workshop means that even the backend support team of technician along with field technicians do not have any clue or adequate understanding of the internal architecture.

My vehicle was taken to address the concern of MAPPLS and Apple Car Play.
After almost two days at the workshop I got the vehicle back stating one roof cable is faulty and will have to be replaced. It will take 4-5 business day to get it. When I checked some of the systems after receiving the car today, I realised that VisionX which was working so fine and I was really happy to use it has stopped working.

When I informed this to workshop, I got the same response that it will have to be checked at the workshop.

After my first experience, I am now very skeptical about sending the vehicle back to the workshop, anticipating problems with more features which seem to be working fine now.

A Vehicle with lot of potential and promise is getting its future prospects jeopardized because of launch and post launch nightmares, courtesy Mahindra.

Any advise from the existing Owners?

Mod Note : Please use punctuation marks instead of using dots.......like this........

Thanks

As a 2x Thar and 2x Scorpio-N owner, with 2 BEVs booked, believe you me, this is the beginning
I'd advise against sending it in repeatedly and spacing it out instead.
Why? For starters, you'll end up with a messy roofliner and every time panels are opened, something isn't put back right.

The last time I received my Thar back from the service center after a month, I had to reassemble the entire dash.

The last time I received my Scoprio-N, I had to put many a clip in. So much so that the tyres were hitting the fender liner. If this basic thing is not caught in final quality assurance (they actually call it FQC), then what is?

Simple things like a ticking vacuum pump and engine oil seal leak go undetected despite repeat concerns and escalations via email. Sure enough I lost enough oil to have an emergency service performed 900 kms away from where I live (was touring.)

My Thar went through 3x stereo and 2x AC replacements in 3 years. I wonder why. And all the while some features got added, repeat issues (like the windshield shattering) were somewhat remedied by an upgrade to thicker glass two years after launch, while many persisted.

The RCA of all of this, beyond the obvious, is that all escalations land up with the dealer/service principal, for both pre and post-sales.

So how does one deal with a series of such calamities?
> Half-informed answer, and my own biased opinion: WAIT. Let experience stack up. Let better part revisions come out. If you can live with some things not working for the next 3-4 months, you're better off taking a day off work and sitting at the service center morning to night to get things done per your satisfaction. I'm doing this with my Scorpio-N now and my life is more peaceful. I have to have the roofliner pulled down and stuck again since the adhesive was never properly attached from the factory. I'll wait for November and get it done far from NCR (Chandigarh, perhaps.)

Any update on your side?
My SA kept saying "It will be done tomorrow and i will call you once its ready" since 30th of last month. Every day i wait and i don't get the call. I call him only to get the same answer everyday. I called him again today. He didn't even lift the call. Called from a new number and he lifts it. Same response - "Its an issue from higherups, i will update you again. Will be done by tomorrow mostly." He is saying even he is helpless and is just giving the answers he is getting from higherups. I had to cancel my plans twice hoping i would get the car. I have plans to travel from tomorrow and have to cancel it yet again since the car will be delivered "tomorrow".

Freaking pathetic from Mahindra. This is not the service you expect for buying a 30 lakh worth car.

The car isn't ready and there are a lot of issues based on user feedback. This was kind of expected and i was ready for it as well. Since i pre-booked for the car, i was ready to face the music if i face issues. But not even delivering the car after taking payment from the customers? People are paying EMIs of the loans but the car is still sitting in showrooms.
