Why would you buy a car with so many doubts in your mind? There are so many obvious red flags, yet you want to convince yourself to buy this car?

This vehicle has just started on its production journey and has a few years of production ahead of itself. Personally, I wouldn't rush into it. You mentioned you have a 9-year-old car that you're wishing to get rid of. Unless it is a diesel car, I don't see the reason to let go of your daily drive in favor of a broken "new" car. I suspect the dealer sensed your desperation and is trying to take advantage of your situation.

No PDI = No Sale. Make it very clear to any dealership you visit. Don't settle for excuses like no OBD scan allowed, etc. Make it difficult for the dealership to get hold of your hard-earned money.

The dealership communicated to me that the car went to the service centre twice; once for the update and second time for PDI as a new manager has joined or something and he wanted to recheck all the cars.

Also the stockyard is in a deserted dirty farm area. The truck offloads the cars on the main road and the drivers drive the cars to the stockyard which is about 3 km of no roads. Maybe driver’s did some joyrides or something.
I wouldn't trust this dealership. Too many vague explanations that don't add up in your own calculations. Please consider other dealerships too.

I am yet to see any manufacturer replace a vehicle in India . For some reason that does not work . No matter how faulty the vehicle is . My friends swift had an engine seizure just a few weeks after purchase , the company only replaced the engine . Purchase of a vehicle is a lot dependent on luck in our country .

I would suggest to shift to your other bookings and leave this showroom altogether, their intentions do not seem right. If they had good intentions, they would have outrightly offered you the second car and not try to push you to get this defective piece.

- I hope you get the context now

Sorry to hear about your experience, hopefully you would be able to put these irritants behind you soon.

Unfortunately, these experiences cement a common belief that cars from Mahindra & Tata needs a shakedown on the streets before one puts their hard-earned money on it. Many times showrooms & service folks are under prepared and delvers a underwhelming ownership experience in the initial few months.

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Update on the long list of issues i had posted:

The day after i had emailed Mahindra Customer service and posted the issues here on this forum, the representatives from Mahindra reached out to me on both fronts (they actively check this forum to understand issues customers are facing) and decided to bring the car to the nearest workshop on saturday (today)where they would check the problems. After 2 hours here are things that they have fixed:

1. Trunk not auto closing fixed. The mechanic just realigned the lock and screwed it back. Was fixed in 5 mins.

2. Front right door requiring a lot of force to close. This was fixed in less than 2 minutes by tightening the inner hook affixed to the body where the door latches.

3. IRVM auto dimming didn't work for me properly. They tried the same by flashing torch directly at the mirror and cameras in the dark. Seemed to work here. Will keep an eye out for this.

4. Leg gesture to open the trunk was not working previously. They showed me the setting that needed to be enabled. Works fine now.

5. Remote key fob car start and forward/backward function. The setting is inside the park assist when using the cameras/360 degree view. Once enabled it will start working.

What doesn't work still:

1. Apple Carplay. Send like a universal issue until Mahindra can fix licensing issues. The few people who have it is because they are running on older firmware and don't have the latest update.

2. Auto door unlock when approaching car and auto lock after key is far away. While the setting is enabled this doesn't work.

3. On unlock and shutting off the car at night interior led lights are supposed to turn on. There is a switch for the same. But a day later it defaults back to off.

4. Audio overall has low volume for a 1400watt speaker system. My XUV 700 is a significantly lower quality speaker but even at mid volume levels is louder than the the full volume of the XEV 9E. They tried flashing a newer firmware version of the amplifier and it did improve but not by much. Volume over Bluetooth is half that of car based apps. They said they will raise the issue to HQ to check.

5. Secure 360 currently doesn't work on iOS. They mentioned it works on the ME4U app on Android, so will just have to wait.

6. Camera video recording is still not enabled. They will have to check and get back on that.

Overall the last few days of driving the car has been superb. The software related minor niggles are there but for the moment can live with it.

Super happy with the response from Mahindra and the members who resolved all the issues on such priority. I am more relaxed now with the car.

Now looking forward to the software updates for the issues to be resolved and the accessory fittings to be done (for which billing systems are still be opened I'm told)

My friend who has CarPlay has the latest firmware with "Default" driving mode, which wasn't there earlier. Unless there's been a newer one, which disables it for some reason.

He has a couple issues like HUD not working and one side's DRL malfunctioning intermittently (Like we've seen on Tata EVs), but he isn't taking it in because he doesn't want them to do something that disables CarPlay

Which dealership in Bombay are you dealing with? Also, can you tell me if there's an option to make Google Maps run on the centre screen (by downloading the app directly, without Android Auto) since CarPlay isn't enabled on your car yet?

Right before the delivery there was an update for VisionX which is the app for managing the HUD.

I'm dealing with Hare Krishna Mahindra based in Mulund (Service centre in Nahur).

No way to install Google maps in the centre display. Also the direction AR feature works only with the Mappls navigation. Won't work with Apple Carplay or Android Auto, which sucks since it's an amazing feature.

I've had no problems with the DRL or any of the lights. Have seen a pre-delivery BE 6 car on road where tail lights drl just wasn't on. Only the brake lights when applied. Hope that doesn't happen to us because that would be a safety hazard.

I feel it's a good sign that they were able to fix the hardware issues right away. That shows a good understanding of the vehicle and what measures need to be taken to fix it. If they were unable to do the hardware part, that would definitely have raised some major QC concerns.

Software issues can be fixed with regular updates though timelimes remain to be seen.

I was facing the door issue on one of my doors - where it had to be closed with a lot of force. I thought i will just wait till first service to get it fixed but after reading this post i just loosened and realigned the door hook and little bit myself and now its working perfectly. Thanks

I feel really sorry that you're facing such issues with you brand new XEV-9E. It is no surprise that Mahindra really has to amp up their Quality control checks and not to mention the Customer service. What really surprised me is that, I thought that Mahindra would've have already done all of that, since this is one of their biggest projects ever.

For us, being first-time purchasers of a Mahindra product, we were skeptical at the beginning, but seeing the overall quality of the product, we were satisfied and went ahead with the booking. We booked the vehicle on Feb 13th, and are expecting a June delivery, even though we were informed that the vehicle could be delivered on a sooner date. We explicitly want the vehicle on a later date, that way Mahindra has time to iron out these initial issues and niggles.

Apart from this, how do you like the car overall? What's the range that you are getting?
