Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Mahindra has updated the User Manual for the EV twins. They are no longer a downloadable PDF File. It's big enough that they have made a directory on the left and viewing are on the right.

Did anyone else also notice this?

Also, it seems that my DID is just staying on forever, i.e. the backlight. It is probably something to do with Me4U app. Since its connected, the DID hasn't turned off, at least that's my guess.

The car is locked and parked, but the DID backlight is on!, it just keeps getting a bit heated. But in any case, isn't this a risk! The screen is on and the red lock icon keeps blinking.

I also noticed about a 3% drop in SoC in 24 hours of parking and then another 2% overnight, is that normal?

Both are not normal. Please get it checked. SOC on LFPs don’t drop even by 1% over 30 days of idle.

The DID turns off after like 5 min post locking the car.

Battery, yes ok. But car consuming it is what I'm asking about. Is your car consuming anything overnight?

Here's what the manual says: HV Battery cell Balancing: The system does cell balancing and charges the LV system based on the LV battery voltage. So even if the vehicle is fully charged and left for sometime, the SOC may drop slightly. This is normal behavior and not a cause of concern.

I'm only trying to assess, what % is normal! and what is related to my car staying awake?

What about charging, does it stay awake then? When I approached the car this morning, the DID backlight was on, but it wasn't warm/ hot, so not sure what's the issue, but I continue to lose 1-2% per night.

Next time, I'll approach it without a key and see if its a wake up or insomnia.

This mode is best suited for highways.

Note: The system cannot detect potholes, speed bumps etc. Hence, please be mindful of this fact.

I noticed a lot of cool features in the owner’s manual. A lot of these are not known to even sales executives and reviewers, I’m not necessarily putting a blame on them though.

There is one more feature wherein one can bring car to full stop by pressing and holding regen + (left paddle) This feature is same as in Korean EVs much like Auto Regen.

I also noticed Mappls seems to have native route planning with features like estimated SoC at the end of the journey, preferred SoC at the destination and obviously an option to add chargers along the way. This is the first time an Indian manufacturer has put route planning in an EV as far as I’m aware. Looking forward to owners sharing their experiences of using these features.

Here are some more small but neat features I noticed.

I also think Mahindra has removed/deferred some features like pet and camp mode for air conditioning and NFC digital key. Hopefully these will be added through a software update.

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

I am taking delivery of my 9e in black color in the coming week. Still have little apprehension about the initial niggles that every Mahindra product has had during the initial phases after launch, however fortune favours the brave.
Primarily chose the stealth black color as it masks the gloss black panels on the car.
However just saw an instagram post of someones white car with white panels instead of gloss black and the car surely looked better/ different.
Attaching a screengrab, IMHO the car looks more futuristic and neat in all white, contemplating to change my booking color.
How do you all feel?

Also the steering controls touch/ haptic bothers me. Do the current owners feel they are easy to adapt or do you guys still accidentally sound the horn while using the controls?

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

My car just finished its 1st free service at 1.6k kms as I have planned a long road trip of around 2k kms this week. I switched on the power savings mode and drove back home from Coimbatore after servicing my car.

The efficiency was amazing considering the size of the car. I drove 85kms back home which included city traffic of about 15kms and the remaining in the highway at 90kmph. I got an amazing 8.3km/kwh. I started with 99 percent charge from the service center.

I’ve attached a picture of the trip meter too.

Thanks. I am also using Power Saving mode on highway as the top speed is limited to 90km/hr (which is what I drive usually) and the acceleration is also decent ( like an ICE car ).

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Just heard from NBS Bombay:

In around a week - CarPlay, Audio and a bunch of other things will be fixed. The cars running CarPlay until now, including my friend's, whose pictures I'd posted here were running the Beta software from TD vehicles.

Not sure if this latest update is going to be OTA, though.

No just movements, it can detect other things as well such as someone bumping into your car or trying to break into your car and depending on the severity, it may pulse the lights or even flash the lights and blare alarm.

Thats completely incorrect. Once a footage is saved, it wont ever be overwritten unless you delete it yourself including the sentry events that the car decided to save. Thats the whole point of "saving" a footage.

No settings changed.

Volume is higher on a few FM channels, particularly magic FM.

Something to do with transmission quality of FM.

Quality is best in Android auto, as per my perception.

Yes, white looks better than anything else, but I bought Desert Mist, because I already had a white. Also the presence of this car is its size which looks more imposing in lighter colours.

The Haptic on the steering are ok and easy, rarely sound the horn, but the center console are difficult, at least I don't know when they click and when not, still getting used to it.

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Service mode option is confusing, screen shows:

Service mode
To access cloud features, disable service mode

Now, should we mark it ON, does the ON means Service mode is disabled? Typically a ON here will mean "service mode" is ON or enabled.

Any ideas folks?

I am trying to find these settings, but unable to - where are they? Also, what external USB is recommended, and what space and file format are needed?
