Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Among many other small software niggles (full list below. I found out that many new owners are yet to find out these issues), I have TWO serious issues -

1. The steering wheel buttons on the left side are not working. The volume toggle, mode toggle, speak button and phone controls.

2. The 'Screen Off' button below the center console is not working.

These being potential hardware issues, I am concerned about these. The response from the Mahindra team has been really good and professional so far. They inspected the vehicle and took the error logs for more inspection by the Chennai team. They have promised a solution next week. I will post how it goes.

For public interest, posting the other software niggles (I believe minor ones) I face that has yet been not solved.

1. Drive mode switching not reflecting in the main display. The mode changes and reflects in the driver panel, but in the centre panel, it shows 'default' always.
2. Apple Carplay not working
3. Warranty shows as 'Expired' in the ME4U app
4. MAIA not working. Unable to turn it on in the settings. Alexa works well, but MAIA is not.
5. Walk away lock and walk near to unlock - Not Working
6. Auto reverse - Feature to remember the last 40 meters and reverse automatically - Not working
7. Vehicle details to be updated in ME4U
8. Secure 360 Camera Recordings - Unclear how to manually initiate recording. Nothing is recorded so far.
9. The 'Charge' app not showing correct values.

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Mr Velusamy had given lots of interviews many Tamil channels on how these cars were built. Each video is a technical course, I would say on various aspects of EV development. I booked this car purely out of respect for him, and am sure this car is truly well built.

BUT, there was one video on how they test software and firmware updates before they release it to the cars. That was the only video I had my doubts on. I was fearing the manual testing process that they employed to check if all the different components work well together. Looking at the issues by early adopters, I am afraid if my fears were true. Hoping they develop mechanism to soon employ automated regression. Else, we may continue to see these Software Defined Vehicles having patchy experiences of features once working no longer continue to work!!

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

So, I made a bit of a goof-up while doing my PDI. I forgot to remove those white stickers protecting the paint, took delivery on 26th March. Now, my tailgate is showing some paint peeling off, and there are two bubbles on the upper side of the taillight. My dealership in Mumbai, NBS International (which is actually a Mahindra factory outlet), told me not to escalate this issue . They said they’ll send my vehicle to the body shop after April 1st. This whole thing is a bit of a bummer, especially since I just bought a brand-new vehicle and now it’s going to the body shop for paint work.

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

The only time I will purchase a Mahindra or a Tata product, is atleast 3 years in to the production life cycle and definitely not first-hand. Would not touch the new electric launches from Mahindra / upcoming Harrier with a barge pole for next 3 years.

Its now a good time to look at some sweet deals on XUV 700 and scorpio N in the used market. I hope the buyers here atleast get right kind of support from Mahindra.

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Looking at the software issues, this so called ground up EV is not a software defined car because if it was, Mahindra could easily have solved all of those issues with a simple over the air software update. Its not just Mahindra by the way, no one else has been able to do it reliably and as frequently as Tesla.

I have a feeling that these software issues might get even worse given Mahindra has put in so many features, so many integrations from so many different vendors have to work together. And even if an issue is identified, they will have to go back to the vendor for a fix. Would be interesting to see how workshops cope with this.

Hi XEV 9e Owner.
Requesting for the pictures of rear parcel tray if anyone has got it.

I installed Wolfbox G900 Pro on my new XEV 9e. wolfbox sent the technician to my home in Delhi to install the system. Wiring was done neatly. I wanted no tempering of the original wiring or drilling for mounting and was very specific about it to the Wolfbox team.
The rear cam is installed inside and fixed on the rear windshield. After installation, I drove in daylight only. I have kept the rear view full screen as the default mode. So far, everything seems to be fine. Just waiting for a night drive in Delhi traffic to see the night performance of the rear cam. The daytime rear view is taken care of.

Be sure to ensure that the black strips that run along the roof are removed and then the roof is sanded before painting. It will peel from the edges if the whole panel is not sanded and painted properly.

Enjoy the new car. Wishing you many many kms and niggle free ownership

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

This thread is more of a beta software discussion than a review or ownership thread. I would never want to be part of an R&D Beta team of a car in which I would carry my family around. People buy a car for peace of mind and not be part of the testing process. It somehow baffles me as to how Indian manufacturers so conveniently, cool-ly get away with all of this, portraying this as “normal”.

Unfortunately, Car is deciding charging speed.
AC charger settings changes did not make any impact, for me on Exicom charger 22 KW (2023 model)

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

I'm getting pretty low mileage, a full charge just shows about 300km range. It was like that from the time I got delivery. I anyway drive with a light foot and I've started using Regen L2 in the city. And it's only been used in the city so far.

Any tips to improve the range? Could this be a software/ firmware issue? The FOTA is still left for my car.

What it shows, need not be what you get. It is just an estimate. It may be based on past observations. For example, if your vehicle was idling for long while experimenting features or waiting with AC on, it may show low estimates. But as you start using your car, the estimates may get better. How many kms have you done? Try charging to 100% and measure it for yourself by calculating the kms covered and percentage remaining. Be it ICE or EV estimates doesn't mean much, and should not be used for mileage calculation.

Mostly a FOTA issue. The last FOTA update changed the range figures dramatically.

Before that in my BE 6, was seeing a range of 350 on full charge.
After the update saw a range of 350 on 72% charge

Looks like the car needs a software update. If you are still getting pretty low range then have a visit to the Showroom once

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Yeah, I've just started using Trip A so I will use the tankful-to-tankful method the next time I charge.
.
Btw for folks living in Mumbai, esp the Central suburbs - Phoenix Marketcity Kurla has a huge EV charging area in their parking lot. 6 80kw and 42 60kw chargers. I could charge 40kw in 43 mins using the 80kw charger.
It wasn't on any of the apps, I just randomly opened Glida app and the saw it there.
