Mahindra will likely have an existing inventory to meet these demand and everyone who booked Pack 3 should be able to get delivery by the end of March or early April. (unless Mahindra goofs up supply chain)

As for the claimed booking value of ₹8,472 crore, there are valid concerns about its accuracy, but I’ll leave that to everyone’s interpretation.
Most of the hype created is due to the pricing of base models (Rs 19 and 22 lakhs) for the specs (59kWh battery, 140KW fast charging, 170KW RWD motors with 380NM torque) on offer. The base models also get a decent feature list. All these are better than anything on the market. Base variant motors are more powerful than even Ioniq 5 and BMW iX1 LWB models which cost more than double.

But none of the base and mid variants will be delivered for another 5 to 6 months. If all the variants are available from March or April, the booking numbers would have been substantially higher. Also, Mahindra has become too greedy in the process after seeing too much hype. The price difference between variants is too high. They should have offered a 79kWh battery option from the Pack 3 select variant and priced the top variant less by Rs 1 lakh.

Btw, i just visited the dealership again to checkout one thing that i had missed.

Unfortunately, even with the XEV 9E we are not going to get multitouch (pinch to zoom in or out) on the maps within Apple Carplay. This was my main gripe with the XUV 700 as well.

All other cars I've tried this with (kia, Hyundai, VW) have pinch to zoom within Carplay. Not sure why Mahindra doesn't! Still going to be relying on arrows to move around the maps i guess.

I think the numbers shared earlier are right. M&M will be able to clear the backlog (based on their current production capacity) latest by April End. Come Q2, I am sure there will be minimal waiting periods and we will see pack 2 with 79KW option too.

Mahindra tried to nudge everyone to buy their top variant (makes complete commercial sense) by indicating that they will prioritize these bookings and Pack 1/2 will come much later in the year. But if the orders for Pack 3 will be fulfilled in the next 2 months, they will be forced to cater to Pack 1/2 bookings. So the actual waiting periods may be much lower than what they would want us to believe.

Try maps in wired mode, and perhaps this will work.

Idon't think City codes are there since in terms of bookings I've the fourth last digit as 3 & 4. Ask three are sequential for me. Three first booking being high last 3 digits and the rest 2 with the 4th last digit as 4, having early *** digits, like early 2 digits
In that case, I feel shortchanged. I gave my PDC cheque on 24th Jan, the day the dealership informed me they have started taking PDC.

Yet, my booking number from the booking made by dealers is B-10697XXX and the booking number from my online booking made at 9:01 AM is B-10695XXX.

It seems impossible for nearly 6000 bookings to be made in the first minute.

Doesn't work on my XUV 700 even with wired. Don't see why it will work in the XEV 9e wired either.

The functionality doesn't change over wired/wireless

Looking at how many people had been waiting to do the bookings since there last few months, 6-10k booking in the first few minutes across India isn't that big a surprise.

The PDC or bookings taken before 14th Feb we all unofficial. Dealers just took that so that they don't loose customers and ask them to come back again after the official dates of booking. Dealers were apparently working till late for booking on behalf of their customers, so pretty sure the ones who did it on their own would have been way ahead in terms of booking id.

One thought i have is that irrespective of your booking ID, allocation will still depend on your city and dealer. So that way luck will also factor in.

+1 The dealer can easily play with the order of deliveries.
So IMO, best is to go through the dealer. They have some sort of bulk upload, which might not be exactly like 9:01 AM upload, but they don't upload one by one either. In my case they saved my preference on the booking portal much ahead... and on the day of booking open, they uploaded in about 9:10 - 9:15am.

But as far as my SA is concerned I am the top of their list, The charging team has finished their inspections, I have made the payment (except insurance & accessories).. so pretty much all set. And, the vehicle exchange evaluation is scheduled tomorrow. Only thing is their strategy is adamant that they will start deliveries only on mid-march - maybe to show some high numbers and use that for marketing as well

I had exactly opposite experience with Scorpion-N and Thar Roxx bookings. I was glad that in addition to booking by dealer, I had booked them online too. Gotten delivery of both cars by virtue of online booking and in both cases, got refund of bookings by dealer with no sight of delivery 2-3 months post the delivery of those booked online.
In fact, manager of a Mahindra dealership admitted that online bookings always win over booking by them.

Damn your dealer seems quick. Koncept here in Delhi doesn’t even have an idea about how many cars have been allocated and no inspections for charger feasibility has been done so far. The showroom also told me they cannot exchange the car until the delivery date is clear.

Also, did you pay the entire amount without any PDI? Since it’s a new Mahindra, I was thinking of using Zekardo to ensure a potentially defect free unit.

So in my Thar, which I just sold yesterday, wired worked fine. Wireless via a dongle did not. Maybe I'm mistaken but I have access to the vehicle no more. Perhaps someone can confirm. Only android Google maps.

PS. The wireless dongle works via the CP protocol, not AA wireless. CP car play and AA android auto per forum rules =)

Android Auto multitouch works fine on both the XUV 700 and XEV 9E. Issue is specific to Carplay (tried only Google maps).

I told them I need to do PDI. I will definitely do that before the vehicle goes for registration. Wasn't sure if I had to hold back payment for that.

First time hearing about Zekardo, and they are not there in my city as well.
I am not sure how well they will be able to test a new model. I thought I will just check the hardware and visible things during my PDI. Software can be updated OTA, so not worried too much about that. Electronics and stuff - how well it will age is anyone's guess!

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

I am surprised that how can Mahindra dealers force their own insurance on car buyers. Also strange is that all Mahindra dealers have a different insurance quote for the same car and same variant ranging from 1.20-2.15L.

Are car buyers also supposed to now look at different dealers’ price lists before booking the car now? Also pretty sure there is no IRDA norm which can force customers to mandatorily purchase insurance from the dealership.

Does anyone know any workaround to this as I do not wish to 2.15L extra to the dealer just to purchase their car (1.4L extra in insurance + 75k for the mandatory charger)?

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

So I received multiple follow ups from dealership here to check on my interest to book. I had registered my interest online before the launch and was also provided test drive. I was itching to book on 14th Feb but finally decided to wait and see how the Mahindra EV saga unfolds. The dealer confirmed that they can deliver few colours (Nebula Blue & Deep Forest) in first lot i.e. by Mid March. Desert Myst and White have some waiting but even that can be delivered by April end.

I told them I'm happy to wait till owner's review start coming in post which I'll think about it. It seems the vehicles may be available off the shelf by June-July. I see less FOMO with Mahindra EV's compared to Thar Roxx. It seems lot of prospects are sitting on fence to avoid Mahindra's 1st Gen product issues especially when it comes to EV. With EV policy also being looked at for lower import duties, I suspect many players may take advantage of it like Tesla and consider bringing global products to India.

I've decided to wait it out. Interesting times ahead.
